English Language and Literature tutors in Gauteng

I have experience in tutoring English from Kumon where I have worked with children from pre-school to high school, and I myself have completed the English program for Kumon. And during the time I have worked with the children, they have shown great progress. Therefore, I would like to share some of my learning experiences with you and even learn something from you.

I have received 86% for my overall English subject when matriculating high school and have too received 84% for AP English, which is specifically focused on the crucial analysis of written texts. More prominently I have completed three years of undergraduate English studies at Wits University, which means that I have a profound understanding of studying literary works and writing persuasive academic essays on a university-equivalent level.

I've always enjoyed reading from a young age. My keen interest in the English language has made me good at my communication skills both online and face-to-face. My goal is to pass that knowledge on to you and help you tackle all the long and seemingly boring poems, books and vocabulary work in high school and primary school so that English becomes more fun for you!

English is one of my main subjects at the University of Pretoria. I am an aspiring English teacher. English is a language that is spoken in almost every country in the world. I believe that children should be proficient in English for this reason. I also believe that children learn and perform best when they are motivated and encouraged rather than forced to learn something. It is my goal to motivate and encourage my students to enable them to perform to the best of their abilities.

I have worked extensively for the past 6 years teaching and tutoring pupils (including remedial and special needs pupils) between the ages of 4 and 21 in a variety subjects, though my passion and area of expertise is English. I have gained valuable work experience and I am interested in contributing the knowledge I have acquired throughout the years to better the knowledge of others. My English skills have been commended and recognized throughout my academic career.  My proudest academic achievements are earning a Gold Certificate in the English Olympiad during my matric year,  a distinction in the IEB NSC matric examinations for English and the commendation and subsequent selection of one of my English essays to be featured on a course unit blog at UBCO. I also completed an Oxford Seminars TESOL course on January 13, 2014 with a grade of 84%. My certification afforded me the opportunity to work as an effective tutor and OT facilitator. The most rewarding experience I had through this work was teaching a special needs girl how to read, write and speak. With experience as an IT Monitor, a Prefect, a Forum Representative, the leader of a Student Organization in high school (2011) as well as being commended for my deportment, I am equipped with the organizational, technological, communication and listening skills that I believe are essential for a dependable and respectable educator. I am a patient and motivational person, who enjoys the rewards that come with teaching. I am eager to apply my skills to the best of my abilities in order to establish a happy, organized and productive learning environment.

I am fond of the English language and spend most of my free time studying literature and reading. Poetry is an art form for me and I have tutored English for over four years. I am able to break down complex language structures and identify key elements which learners can expect in exams.

I have been teaching English for 5 years and have gained a lot of experience teaching the South African curriculum. In that time I have really proven myself and became a subject head and I managed the SBST (school-based, support team). We assist learners that have learning disabilities. SBST entails, support books, intervention plans for the grade and individual support plans for each learner. I majored in English at the North West University of Potchefstroom. I am the best candidate for tutoring because of both my academic degree and teaching experiences.

I am a native English speaker, and proficient in written, listen, reading, and communicative skills. My objective to is to further my studies in linguistics which will enable me to offer immaculate and proficient tutoring for all concerned. I have completed the TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) certification and with these skills I am able and willing to offer a viable service. My appreciation and love for the English language allows me to teach and teach myself, allows me to communicate with a concise and intentional manner, offers me great satisfaction to enable another on how to speak, write and listen with intent, knowledge and in the end resolving to clear understanding and satisfactory results. All leaving one with greater opportunities within the business, virtual and personal sectors.

I have a Masters degree in Creative Writing from the University of the Witwatersrand and I have worked as a copywriter/ journalist for three years. My academic research paired with my professional experience makes me the ideal tutor for English language and literature as I am able to analyse and interpret poetry, prose, film and drama texts, as well as having a keen eye for grammar and spelling errors.
