As a tutor, one of the best perks of using Turtlejar is not having to worry about payment - we take care of it all! You can expect to earn between R150 p/hr and R270 p/h, depending on what level you are tutoring as well as what package the client takes out. We always make sure that payment from the student is secured before you start with lessons. We always give you confirmation that payment has been paid by the student. If no confirmation or consent has been given for you to go ahead with lessons then we are not held liable for those lesson payments. We make payments to tutors bank accounts once a week.

Through Your Personal Tutor Profile: Once you have signed up and your profile is "Live" on the Turtlejar website, students will be able to request your tutoring services directly. We also send you personalised jobs based on your location, online availabilty, subjects offered and more. You decide which jobs to accept.

One-to-one tutoring sessions take place wither at your home or your students home. You can also choose to provide lessons online via skype. We have many students looking for lesson online. If appropriate, you could also organize sessions in a public space such as a library or a coffee shop that is close enough and convenient to both you and the student. We are in the exciting process of building an online classroom where future online lessons will take place!

Simply head on over to our Become A Tutor page and fill out your name, email address and create a password. You will receive a verification email which will have a link that verifies your email address. From there you will be directed to turtlejar sign up application whereby you will need to fill out all fields so we can process your application. If accepted, you'll be ready to receive potential job opportunities.

We do have minimum requirements when becoming a tutor for us. If you are turoing in-person, one to one, your own transport is needed to travel to your clients. You need at least 80%-85%% for your Matric School subjects you want to tutor. For university subjects that you want to tutor, we require you have at least 75% to 80%. Bachelor Degreer is prefereble. Some other noteworthy qualifications and certificates are: Advanced Certificates, National Higher Certififcates, Diplomas, National Professional Diplomas and Bachelors Degree.
