I have three years teaching experience overall , including both online & in-class teaching. My teaching expertise encompass but are not exclusively limited to the following; Kindergarden, Beginner, Intermediate, advanced, business English, English Academic writing, Advanced grammar & vocabulary, Public speaking, English creative writing , Life clubs.

I have been involved in teaching and tutoring Grade 6 and 7 maths for 15 years. I love helping students grasp new concepts and grow in confidence. I have mostly worked in under-resourced schools and with learners whose first language is isiXhosa. Through one-on-one and small group support, I have seen learners make dramatic improvements in their maths scores over the course of an academic year.

I am a bi lingual English-speaking graduate and a South African citizen. I have completed a 168 hour Level 5 TEFL Certificate with The TEFL Academy. I have a real desire to improve the lives of others by teaching English. I look forward to creating exciting and engaging lessons to motivate my students and help them to learn effectively. I have in the past taught people in the following aspects: I have trained staff in restaurants, (front of house) serving staff and hosts, (Back of house) kitchen staff, which included following recipes, health and safety, hygiene, effective time management etc. I have also trained technicians for technical upkeep and maintenance of vending machines; I have experience in training new managers in management skills and operations. I also have some training experience from the South African national defence force (Military). Additionally I love to teach people how to play guitar.

Hey there, my name is Josh! I am currently a third-year Actuarial Science student at UCT. I have been tutoring matric maths and physics for the last 2 years. I passed my IEB matric exams with six distinctions including 86 for Advanced Program English and 88 for mathematics. I scored 96 for my maths NBT. I feel as though I usually work best with strong students but I am extremely excited by the opportunity to reteach fundamentals to weaker students. I believe that high school mathematics often does students a disservice in the way it approaches fairly fundamental concepts. Despite my strong performance in high school, it wasn't until university that I grew to see the full picture behind a lot of the maths I was taught. Students are often shown how to follow steps to answer questions without a clear picture of the machinery behind what they are doing. In my experience, this often leads to weaker students feeling as though they "can't do maths". This attitude is naturally harmful and somewhat self-fulfilling. It is my hope as a tutor to enrich the mathematical world of strong students by offering a glimpse into the bigger picture and to build the confidence of weaker students by reapproaching questions starting from a more fundamental level. I am a native french speaker, born and raised in France and I worked 15 years in the french speaking part of Switzerland. I am then able to make comparisons and differences between the french used in the 2 countries (and even more with Canada, Belgium and African countries). I wrote and published a sci-fi book in France in 2009. My specialization is the travel industry though, in which i've been working for 20 years in Europe and in Southern Africa. I always had a thing for languages, and learned Russian and Farsi a while ago. More recently i've learned spanish and i am currently learning Portuguese.

I have a Bachelor of Business Science degree, Masters in Business Science (Economics) degree, and a PGCE (SP & FET) all from UCT. The PGCE is a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, specialising in teaching Mathematics and Economics to high school learners. In other words, I am a qualified teacher too, and so I am trained to identify particular areas of Mathematics that learners are struggling with and how best to help them succeed. Prior to becoming a high school teacher, I worked as an Economist doing research for the public and private sector. I have many years teaching experience, having taught Economics to undergraduate and postgraduate students at UCT for roughly 6 years, and more recently, teaching Mathematics and Economics to Grade 7 to 12 learners. I have been employed as a Maths teacher at both government and private schools, as well as most recently at an online school, teaching Maths to Grade 8 – Grade 12s. I have been doing private tutoring of Maths, Economics and running SAT Preparation classes for the last 5 years. I therefore am experienced in tutoring learners online -mostly using Zoom, but also Skype and Google Hangouts. My teaching philosophy focuses primarily on building confidence in my learners. I am a patient, calm and caring educator, who takes a genuine interest in all her learners academic progress. I try to make my lessons fun and interactive, and I encourage you to ask as many questions as you need to in order to fully grasp a concept. In my opinion, if a learner hasn’t understood a concept properly, it is usually the teacher’s fault for not explaining that concept in a way the learner can understand and relate to. I also don’t like to focus on the rote learning of Maths (or Economics) “rules”. In my opinion, if you understand WHY and HOW things are done the way they are, it enables you to link Maths concepts, and the “rules” will become second-nature to you. I enjoy scuba-diving, fishing (catch and release) and gardening.

So a little about myself... I Matriculated from Durban High School with the class of 2013 and thereafter moved to Cape Town to pursue my studies. After obtaining my BHSc Degree from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology at the end of 2019, I was employed by a private pathology company in the capacity of a Medical Laboratory Scientist. I consider myself to be a hard working and responsible individual with a fair sense of humour. I enjoy learning, especially so when its fun and light-hearted. My interests vary from working with cars and learning about science, to online gaming and reading.

I am currently studying towards my Honors in Industrial Psychology. Why continue studying? Hello everyone. My name is Priscilla. I'm an experienced Accounting and English Tutor. I have over 6 years of experience tutoring both online and offline. I hold an Honors Degree in Finance and Banking and I teach various pregraduate accounting modules and also assist with assignments. I'm also an accountant. From time to time, I tutor Business & Conversational English to some ESL students who wish to improve their English skills.
