For 12 years of teaching statistics & mathematics at many levels, from Calculus courses to teaching Business Calculations, Calculations & Statistics and Quantitative techniques and Finance, as a Lecturer, a Teaching Assistant and as Tutor, I have been constantly learning and gaining experience as to what makes an effective and a polished practitioner of the craft.

The career I am pursuing is Mechanical Engineering. This degree breaks down complex everyday problems and uses a deep understanding and detailed applications of maths and science to find solutions. I have both enjoyed and excelled in Maths and Science. I enjoy breaking down a problem and establishing steps as to how to go about solving the problem. Thus, I can tailor unique methods to help students not only pass but also do well in Maths and Science.

I love numbers, patterns, coming up with science experiments, and have always enjoyed playing number games and math puzzles while growing up. I will try my hardest to make the material easily understandable and to help my students discover their own love for the subjects. I also have previous experience in teaching Math and Science to a younger age group.

I have just matriculated and I took these subjects in Matric. I achieved distinctions in these subjects and have a very good understanding of the primary and high school general maths and science curriculum. I am patient and passionate about these subjects.

I apply variety approaches to every topic and able to adjust the curriculum to suit each individual's needs. I believe in congrete before abstract as well as enquiry based learning. Dealing with special needs, normal and gifted learners is not a challenge for me.

I got a distinction for pure maths at the end of matric. I have completed 3 maths courses at uct and achieved a first class pass for 2 of the 3. I believe in solidifying fundamentals and understanding an overview of the topics needed for study before diving into the practical component of learning- method learning is key.

I envision a world where everyone is enthusiastic about mathematics and science, sees the value and beauty of mathematics and is empowered by the opportunities it offers. In addition to preparing students for careers and post-secondary education, I believe that this means that I also teach mathematics and science in order to equip students to participate actively in our democratic society. I achieve this purpose by focusing mathematics and science on research and critical thinking so that the learners can recognise and perceive claims made by those in authority as true or false and misleading. As a math and science tutor I know that I am committed to inspiring my students so that they can not only improve their own lives but also better understand and critique the world around them.

I have a BSC chemical Engineer with a TOELF certificate and 18years of teaching experience in Chemistry, physics, biology, geography, and maths, English language, statistics both online and offline.
