I have many years of experience in learning mathematics at university level and teaching mathematics based on strong theoretical background as well as the application of mathematics in the real world.

I have studied the sciences to a master's level. I have a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, and materials engineering. I have also conducted tutorials at a university level in classrooms of about 80 students and have experience marking scripts.

Everything I said about Mathematics applies. Here however the key is to experiment practically yourself and prove facts to yourself about the world as it is. My classroom experience of teaching Natural and Physical Science supplies me with the necessary experiments. Another key area is connecting what you have learnt practically to the scientifically correct way to write up things, balance chemical equations and use the correct units. The relationship to the real life experiment must be used as a foundation to build these skills.

Having tutored three boys at varying age levels at SACS junior school, I’m comfortable covering the various topics covered in both mathematics and science. I have worksheets that I have developed myself that match the current syllabus.

I have a Phd in nuclear physics. Physics and mathematics go hand-in-hand. For example the shape of nuclei are described by spherical harmonics. During my work at iThemba LABS I used mathematical and statistic modeling to describe physical environments.

Maths can be difficult to wrap your head around but also can be taught properly from first principles. You will learn to understand the universal language of mathematics. This I learn from my degree in Chemical Engineering.

I have an aptitude for mathematics and love solving math problems (I often play Sudoku on rainy days). I feel math is a part of our everyday decision making and it helps us solve everyday problems by applying a critical thinking approach. Science is interesting and it helps us understand the science of everything around us. I enjoy research the Physics and Chemics side of science, but prefer Physics.

These are subjects that I really enjoy and find interesting. I would like to be able to pass on my knowledge in these subjects to someone that might need some help in learning and understanding them. Gained a lot of knowledge in these subject from my mother who was a maths and science teacher, which I think I can pass on to someone else.

I did very well at Maths and Science in school and finished Matric with 95% for both the NSC Maths and Physical Science exams. I would feel comfortable helping students understand these subjects. I have also been a private tutor for high school students before and tutored Maths and Physics extensively all the way until Matric.
