English Language and Literature tutors in Pretoria

I have always enjoyed English and learning about the various rules and exceptions that the language has. I pride myself on knowing correct spelling and punctuation. I realise it can be difficult to learn all the various exceptions and rules but I feel like I could make that easier due to my love of the language.

I am currently studying a bachelor of education, majoring in English. I believe my passion for English improves students' learning experience, and by extension their understanding, knowledge and verbal skills in English.

I have been an online teacher for 10 years and my student's have ranged from 3 years of age all the way up to 89! I have taught English to a wide variety of nationalities including Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese and lots of European students. I have a TEFL and TEYL qualification and I can teach pretty much ANY English topic. Please note: I do have a fairly strong American accent.

English is my first language and I achieved high marks in this subject throughout my whole school career. I can also speak afrikaans fluently which means I can teach afrikaans individuals in their home language if this is their preference. I have still kept all my IEB English portfolios with past speeches, tests, exams, literature works and assessments as a whole. I am willing to share these resources which will provide high school students with a credible grade 12 year end portfolio for English moderation without all the hassles of compiling one from scratch. I am happy to tutor people of all ages, gender identities and ethnicities.

I excelled in English in my matric and my writing has been exceptional in university. I enjoy literature and my spoken, reading and English speaking skills are excellent. I love teaching and have actually tutored English before and I believe I will excel.

I majored in English at the University of Pretoria whilst completing my BA Languages degree. I also went on to study English literature during my Honours year in Afrikaans. I think precisely because English isn't my home language, but a mastered second language, I can help both the second language speaker and the first language speaker. I find that English in primary school is about comprehension, whilst English is high school tests your writing and communication skills. I can help students master both comprehension, and communication and writing skills because my degree requires both.

I am an education editor for an internationally accredited higher education institution, and I have former experience in lecturing English and Philosophy to both first and second/foreign language students. I received training and have teaching experience in both Australia and South Africa. My current full-time job comprises improving the standard of learning material for our students from both a language and pedagogical perspective, and my passion in life is to positively contribute, in any way possible, to students' learning experience. I have also worked as a writing instructor at a writing lab and have spent many hours helping students develop better writing strategies and skills on both school and university level.

I am an English native speaker and I have studied English in University. In addition to this I have my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification. I have taught English in Spain to adults and children at all levels.

I am extremely passionate about English and all it has to offer and it helps that I am an avid reader and did AP English in my high school days. Literature is such a diverse and difficult section, but my enthusiasm for the language only makes it easier.

I have extensive knowledge about grammar and literature of the English language. I participated in public speaking, forum discussing and debating. I can help with essay writing and oral presentations.
