Having always had a flare for mathematics, I performed well enough in high-school so as to have matriculated with a distinction. My good grades in school earned me a place in medical school to complete my dream of being a doctor. In my first year of university, having studied here in South Africa, I took up tutoring as a part time job. My core subjects taught included Mathematics. During my time spent at WITs pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree, I completed courses in Statistics, Calculus and Physics. This built on my foundation of teaching Mathematics. Students found that with my help and guidance, their marks, ability to problem solve and reason had greatly improved. Part of my teaching technique is to get students to learn how to problem solve early and independently, seeing as our mainstream education doesn't quite teach students to do so and thus learners' struggle through university and perform poorly.

Please note that my expertise only go as high as grade 9. I have set up many exams and tests and i have marked them. I have helped people to prepare for examinations and tests for years. I am patient and I always have more than one way to explain a method. I am good at breaking methods and calculations up into steps, as well as to provide additional resources.

I am a final year student with Mathematics as a main subject. I personally have experience in teaching Mathematics to learners in graded 1 - 3 as well as 10 - 11 years old. I am innovative and will make the subject fun and easy to grasp an understanding of the subject.

I have been tutoring maths since I was top of my class in high school, so I have a lot of experience in the field. I continued to help people with maths during and after my studies at Wits. Thus I believe I am strong candidate to help with your mathematics needs.

I consider myself a good fit to tutor this subject as I have achieved 87% in my mathematics matric final. I have also achieved over 70% for the National Benchmark Tests. Being in the engineering faculty, I have completed four mathematics courses, which have included topics such as calculus and linear algebra and as such I have further developed the ability to think proficiently in mathematics. In high school, I maintained the position of being a mathematics mentor. A mentor had the duty of tutoring fellow peers (in all grades) on the subject of maths. I also received three years of consistent mathematics tutoring in high-school, which further increased my passion and confidence in the subject. Throughout high-school I also partook in several mathematics olympiads, which further developed my mathematical skills. Due to the fact that I am deciding to tutor on one course (maths), I will also be able to provide complete dedication to the student for this subject.

I had Mathematics till matric and is also still using it in the degree that I am studying. I have a younger sibling that I tutored informally in Mathematics, therefore I still have a good understanding of the Mathematics that children do in Primary School.

In high school I didn't like math at first. It confused me. I learned however that I needed to go back to basics and after establishing a firm foundation I started to enjoy the subject. I had an approach and a method. I want that for you and show you that you are able to master it!

Mathematics is and will always be my first love. I would have followed mathematician route had I had a chance but that's a story for another day. With maths practice can never be over emphasized.
