I am fluent in Afrikaans as it is my first language and going to an english high school I also have experience with Afrikaans as a second language. I am familiar with Afrikaans reading, language, vocabulary as well as grammar.

I am a third year student studying Bachelor of education at Witwatersrand, majoring in mathematics and science. My home language is Afrikaans and fluent in English as I study in English. With this I have 2 years of experience with great results.

I am fluent in Afrikaans, written and verbal. My first corporate job was a customer facing role and I serviced both English and Afrikaans native speakers in the financial industry. This role taught me a lot of finance-specific Afrikaans jargon and phrases.

The last five years I have had significant success teaching children Afrikaans by doing a nice story, translating it into English, answering questions on the story in Afrikaans, even rewriting it in your own words, then doing grammar exercises based on the story. This works very well with second and third language speakers who have an attitude towards the subject. I always try and use stories related to topics the children may be interested in and then build the language and exercises from that.

As Afrikaans is my Home Language, I love teaching it. Although it is not always easy to learn another language, it can always be fun. I would like you to enjoy and understand Afrikaans as there is so much more to Afrikaans as a language.
