English Language and Literature tutors in Cape Town

I am currently a final year student studying a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree at the University of the Western Cape. I understand and get along well with highschool aged students and I also have a passion for education.

Although I have a Completed BA degree majoring in English and Afrikaans, I am also a passionate musician, having completed both vocal and performance exams through Trinity College London. I am currently undergoing further vocal training to pursue my musical ambitions, but am also passionate about working with people, thus find tutoring the ideal way to combine my language skills with my desire to help people. I also have an interest in education and understand the importance of academic support to realise students' potential. Due to my creative nature, I apply my creative thinking to academics and problem solving too - if the usual approach fails, I enjoy seeking an alternative way to understanding, because while all people may not learn the same way, all people are capable of learning.

I am a young, energetic individual with a healthy attitude towards others. I have a great passion for gaining knowledge and understanding what I’ve learnt. I am determined and driven, with attention to detail. I live a balanced lifestyle, and enjoy spending time outdoors, and with family and friends. I was always driven to pursue a career in Psychology. In 2010, I started my professional journey within the field. I obtained my BA Humanities degree majoring in Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch in 2012 . During this period, I volunteered at rural daycare organisations, NGO's, and animal shelters. I also worked as a Doctor's assistant during holidays. In 2013, I received my Psychology Honours (with distinction) at Rhodes University. I was also a Psychology Tutor for students. I volunteered at the Fort England Mental Institution on a weekly basis to expose patients to the world outside of the institution. I also served as a voluntary psychology counsellor on the Phelophepa Healthcare Train where I counselled over 20 clients and delivered over 15 workshops for communities with scarce to no medical resources. From 2014-2015 I completed a Masters degree in health and well-being design; working with the youth to develop a mobile application focused on providing relevant health and well-being information for the youth (specifically focusing on emotional needs). I also completed the MAD4MAD (Mobile Application Design for Medical Application Development) Mini Intensive Course, and attended and presented at the ISD4D (Information System Development for Development) research conference in Mozambique. I facilitated multiple youth development workshops pertaining to health and well-being as part of different community service initiatives. I also attended and presented the 13th Participatory Design Conference in Namibia - volunteering in the informal housing communities. In 2015, I completed my Psychometrics internship through the University of Stellenbosch; and passed the HPCSA board examination. During this time I grew particularly fond of Hesketh treatment and rehabilitation center. I volunteered there on a weekly basis - administering, scoring, and providing feedback to patients that may assist in a successful career. Currently, I am a freelance Psychometrist (Independent Practice) and Life Skills lecturer/workshop facilitator. I administer psychometric assessments and give feedback to students at the University of Western Cape as part of a grade-improvement program to assist students in creating a bright future. I also deliver workshops on all Life Skills (such as 'Healthy communication and Conflict management', 'HIV/AIDS awareness', 'Presentation skills', etc.) and Office/Business Skills. Lastly, I administer the newest full personality and/or career assessments

I have an extremely strong passion for teaching and have experience in teaching and tutoring at numerous schools. I have taught to kids in places like Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India, where I taught in schools to many children of all ages and levels. I believe that there is a special connection between a student and a teacher, in being able to offer knowledge, love, understanding, and a space to grow. I am an energetic, positive, and creative person, with a zest for life, and a deep patience. I have a gift of connecting with children, and am able to be one with children, as well as having the strengths of organizing, planning lessons and being reliable and hard working. I have strong interpersonal skills which assist greatly in tutoring.

I am a friendly and intelligent 25 year old female currently studying Early Years Montessori Teaching. I am really passionate about education and am particularly interested in helping students with their Music (theory and piano practical), English, History and/or Drama studies. I am very creative with particular interest in sewing, painting, reading, drama, dance and music. I have worked in the fashion industry (as a fashion designer, blogger, stylist and visual merchandiser), broadcasting (hosting 2 radio shows over 3 years) and most recently have been working at a Montessori pre-school as an assistant teacher.

I enjoy reading, blogging, horse-riding and teaching. I am passionate about history and biology as well as English writing and literature. I like to teach students about these passions in the hopes that it too will inspire them. Being excited about a subject is the first step to success.

I am currently a student at UCT studying English Language and Literature and Media and Writing so English would predominantly be the subject I would wish to tutor.

My name is Joanna and I am a qualified Speech and Language Pathologist/ Therapist. I enjoy working with both children and young adults. I have a passion for helping others and have a very patient and empathetic nature. I have experience in working one on one with individuals since I matriculated. I worked as a teachers assistant in the Uk for one year, where I specifically worked with those children who needed one on one attention. From there , I went to university at the University of Cape Town and completed a BSC is Speech Language pathology. Whilst studying I tutored various students through the years and thoroughly enjoyed helping them succeed academically and developing relationships with them and their families. I am now a practicing speech and language therapist but enjoy tutoring on the side.

I am 19 years old, studying a Business Science (Finance with Accounting) at UCT. I am a first year and graduated from Bishops Diocesan College last year where I received 5 distinctions.
