I'm providing a combination of academic language skills, professional working skills, and tutoring experience in English. It is my prior language of communication in everyday life, and since I learned it myself in the high school setting, I am skilled in vocabulary, grammar, and writing. Plus: let's make it fun :-) I enjoy enabling you to bring out the best results in a fun way!

I am an Applied English Language Studies and General Linguistics lecturer. I have been teaching for 5 years, and have experience not only with lecturing, but also with tutorial classes, private classes, and additional support classes. I am also currently doing my PhD in Linguistics.

English has always been one of my favourite subjects. I am an avid reader and I am fastidious about grammar, punctuation and the likes! In high school, I did both English first language (FAL) and Advanced Programme English. I achieved a distinction for both. I also have experience in teaching English. I am patient and thorough which I feel are both important skills when teaching English. I hope to instil my love of the language in all of my students!

Assisting students develop their writing skills and use of grammar in the primary phase is vitally important. I am best able to assist students in this task by presenting work and grammar rules in an engaging way that helps them to remember and assists in the correct use of grammar in their written work.

I believe that I am a great tutor with regards to grammar as it is something that I interact with daily due to my university work and freelance writing job. Grammar is a crucial foundation for anyone that wishes to succeed with the English language and I enjoy the constant battles that it throws our way.

Reading and writing have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember and I have always had an appreciation for the English language. I finished matric with a 94% average and have also completed AS levels in English literature. I am able to assist with not only grammar, but literature, reading and writing too.

With reading as a past time hobby, I have developed a keen eye for grammatical order. I have editted a PHD thesis for a fellow colleague and six undergraduate thesis submissions. I am at my Masters level within the Humanties department, and therefore naturally indulge in a fair amount of reading and writing.

As an avid reader, I have a keen eye for language and grammar. I also achieved 88% for my final English matric mark. Moreover, I tutored a grade 5 and a grade 7 student in English from August to November 2017 and then again from October - November 2018. This was done on a part-time basis and I was a private tutor.

Grammar is a part of everyday life and if not understood correctly can result in improper communication. Grammar can be seen in writing and speaking. It is a skill that needs to be developed through practice of other skills and taught in conjunction with other problem areas. By allowing the learner to learn in this type of way I am joining their thought process that grammar is not exclusive to one section of the English Language.

I am happy with all aspects of English. However grammar is an important base from which to work and understand why certain things happen in any language. I love to see students work this out and come to a solution that is both correct and they understand why it is that solution.
