I once worked at a primary school during my high school career where I attended 'Reading School' where I helped out under-privildged children with their reading abilities. I also worked at a pre-primary where the kids are just starting to learn to read and write so I also helped out with them.

I love watching people learn how to read. How a whole new world suddenly opens for them is extremely exciting. For the past five years I have taught Intervention in a primary school. A great deal of this is based on teaching learners to read and phonics. I feel that I have had success in this area because the learners enjoy the stories and puzzles we do. I have a wealth of materials I have created around this area. Consistent practice is obviously key.

I love a good book! Teaching children to read opens up all other doors to education. Being able to read means that you'll be able to do well in other subjects such as Mathematics or Life Sciences. So lets get reading!☆

I entered a reading competition in 2013 and was the Provincial Champion.I entered the WOW spelling competition in 2014 and was crowned the National Champion. When reading any material, the reader should always ask questions while reading to create sense of what is being read. In this you create a thought pattern of what the writer is saying. Stepping away from the text and coming back to read it again can unlock a better insight to comprehension.

For primary school learners, I am trained as an occupational therapist and have a sound understanding of childhood development and learning. I use this background to inform how I help children learn to read. For highschool and university students, reading is slightly more complex. Comprehension is king. We will work on this.

My social work course required a lot of report writing and research. 4 years of intense report writing has given me great writing skills. I write poems and short stories I read a lot and even worker in Exclusive Books for 2 years because of my love for books. I had English as my First additional language in High School and received very high marks.

I have a degree in English Literature from Varsity College where I graduated at the top of my class with 19 distinctions. I have a knack for essay writing & have a tried-and-tested essay formula which can be applied to any subject.

As a prolific bibliophile and practicing attorney, I have a very good command of the English language. I have an extensive interest in a variety of fields, including law, health, various hobbies, non-fiction, biographical works, and much more, and would be willing to engage with all ages to increase their English knowledge.

As a voracious reader myself, I am very keen to get my students to read more and to extend their vocabulary and grammar. I help my students read with greater fluency and to emphasise key concepts and phrases in a text. I enable my students to re-read text and teach them how to summarize to gain a better understanding of what they have read. I teach students how to process and internalize what they have read.
