Meg A - Tutor in Rondebosch

I am a third year UCT student majoring in Genetics and Biochemistry. I have always had a passion for learning and I enjoy helping other people find that passion and succeed in their studies. Over the years, I have adapted and perfected my study techniques to fit the "study smart, not hard" ethos, with promising results. Patience is one of my strengths, this which I believe to be integral to my ability as a tutor. I have a fair amount of experience: as the Head of Academics in my matric year, I ran revision classes; I was a peer tutor at high school; and I have privately tutored several students.

Experience / Education
I matriculated in 2016 and I am currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Science at UCT, majoring in Genetics and Biochemistry. In my matric holiday, I had a waitressing job in order to earn some money to save, as well as to get a taste of the working world. For the duration of my first year of university, I was privately tutoring a number of primary and high school students in a range of subjects. I plan to do my Honours degree in Forensic Genetics, or move over into the Faculty of Law.
Subjects taught
  • Mathematics

Maths has always been one of my favourite and strongest subjects. I finished matric with an average of 94%, as well as completed my AP Maths exams. When it comes to maths, I believe practice to be of utmost importance. Therefore, my tutoring would have a focus on repetition and problem-solving skills in order for the best results to be achieved.

  • Biology

Biology is such an interesting subject because it is the study of living things and how they interact. For this reason, it can also be rather confusing at times. I can therefore be of assistance in understanding processes, finding ways to remember tricky words and making notes. I finished matric with 94% and have also take university biology courses.

Physical science is so important as a basis for the study of the sciences. Therefore, I want to help students improve their problem-solving skills, as well as help them to understand difficult concepts. I have lots of experience with science as I am now close to finishing my BSc. I am patient and hard-working.
