My interpretation skills acquired during my degree and current employment coupled with my history knowledge from high school and ability to write essays makes me a perfect candidate to tutor this subject.

My second major in my Education degree is History - a subject I achieved a distinction for when matriculating. I have classroom experience and have tutored many matrics in this subject - all achieved excellent results.

I taught History for 14 years, in an IEB school, from Grade 9 to 12. My pass rate was 100% and my average for the last 5 years was in the 70s. But more importantly, my students LOVED the subject because it taught them valuable general knowledge and an understanding of current events, as well as values and attitudes that equipped them to make informed life choices.

I received a distinction for history in matric. I love history and my passion for the subject makes my lessons interesting and fun unlike just memorizing facts and dates out of a textbook. I am able to teach different study methods to help my students excel at this subject from tests at primary school level to final matric exams.

As an education student, a lot of emphasis is placed on how to teach history as it is a tricky subject to learn. There are a lot of different skills needed to be able to remember all the information and I believe I can help the learner come up with creative and fun ways to learn history and retain the information.

History has been a subject I have loved since junior school all the way up to my postgrad (and further!). The past and the events that occur amaze and intrigue me. To be able to analyse and understand how the world worked and operated many years ago is fascinating to me and helps us analyse how the world might proceed in the future. To be able to interact with a variety of different individuals who either changed the world or damaged it, and learn everything behind what made them tick and the reasoning behind certain events will help you to analyse the world today and see how things may unfold in the future. I hope that my passion and love for this subject and all of the worldy events it holds, will inspire you to love it as much as I do. Furthermore, with my background as an English educator I will be able to assist you with the more 'harder aspects' of History such as writing essays and analysing sources. I hope to explore our past as a species with you and learn new and exciting facts!
