English Language and Literature tutors in Pretoria

I studied BA Law at the University of Pretoria from 2017-2019, majoring in English Literature. I received a distinction for English in first and second semester of my final year, as well as in matric. I believe I am best suited to tutor this subject because of the comprehensive knowledge and skill that I have acquired in the English language throughout the years I have had the pleasure of learning about it. I am particularly passionate about English Literature because of its personal impact on my recent life. The question isn't so much, "how much do we know about Shakespeare" but rather, "how well does Shakespeare know us?" The ability of literature to preserve itself over centuries stems from the fact that if you remove the words and punctuation, what lies at the heart of literature is human experience. And human experience is what connects us all universally, regardless of our differences. What was human experience in the 17th/18th century, remains human experience now. I made a choice to major in English Literature when I had a variety of modules to choose from. I hope you will make the decision to choose me as your tutor despite the variety of tutors at your disposal. Tuks has equipped me with sufficient practice and an abundance of experience in this subject and I am excited to be able to utilize what I have gained to help someone else better their understanding of English Literature, as well as enrich their life as much as English Literature has enriched mine.

I've recently become attach to teaching especially helping children because I know what it's like to struggle and I want to be there to help any child that is in need that they can become successful in life

I am a book-worm through and through, with a love and admiration for the Classics, such as Shakespeare, Austen, etc. This love extends to poetry, plays and the technical aspects of the language, i.e. grammar and syntax, as well as the critical analysis of literature. I am also able to help with written assignments as well as the verbal aspects of the subject, such as speeches, vocabulary, pronunciation and elocution.

I have 10 years experience teaching English as a First and Home Language. I have 6 years experience as the subject head of languages: moderating assessments and examination papers. I have completed various courses and training to keep up to date with changes in the system. I have been Head of Department of Educational Guidance for 2 years.

I am proficient in the English language. I attained 71% in matric. I have a passion for reading and writing. My favorite genres include African literature, Biographies and Autobiographies. I have a passion for teaching.

I am an active, flexible, open-minded and team-orientated individual.I’m currently pursuing my Honours Degree in Psychology at the University of Pretoria. My open-mindedness and my benevolent personality allow me to relate well to people, and I can co-ordinate activities sufficiently with any resources presented. English has been one of my most favourite subjects and I grew to love it with every class. I even took an interest in writing poetry to this day because of my love for it. I hope I can help you love and pass it.

I have a big passion for education, the English language and helping learners understand a concept that they are either missing or struggle to grasp. I believe there is a specific teaching style each learner needs and not a one-size-fits-all approach, which is lazy teaching. I love working with people. I am, also, a qualified FET educator.

I love the English language, there's always something new and interesting to to learn about. It is also my home language and what I primarily speak in so communication alone is already a step forward when assisting with tutoring.

I am teaching English language and literature to a combination of foreing nationals including: Somalia, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Nigeria. My leaners are in grades 2 to 5. Feedback from their parents is meritorious The kids' command in English has evidently improved

I have always been interested in English, particularly English literature, since I was small, my nose always buried in a book and my hand always raised during English lessons. I did incredibly well in English throughout my high school career and ended Matric with an 84% average. I also received the Barrow Prize for English in high school which is awarded to students who are intelligent and insightful. I have also participated in nationwide English olympiads and am currently taking English at a university level. I absolutely love helping others experience the joys I have found in the world of English literature.
