Madzia P - Tutor in Montana Park

Hi, I'm Madzia. I attended CBC Mount Edmund and matriculated in 2016. I will be turning 22 this year (yikes). I recently completed my BA Law degree (cum laude) with a distinction in my chosen major, English Literature, at the University of Pretoria. My graduation is in April of this year and I am currently in the process of applying for my second degree in Journalism and Communications. I was hoping to find a tutoring job in the meantime and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to fill a possible vacancy located in Pretoria. I believe that the key to academic success is asking for clarity where it is needed and I would like to offer my help through the skills I have acquired over my academic endeavor thus far to someone who is in need of them. I am patient, conversational, always willing to listen and passionate about helping others reach their full potential or at least be a lending hand in the process thereof. I myself needed a math tutor in high school so I understand the process and I know what it feels like to be struggling in a certain subject. If you are battling with the English language, can't write an essay to save your life, struggle analyzing a poem or think Shakespeare sounds like gibberish, I'm your girl. I hope to not only help you better your skills, but enable you to enjoy the subject too. Who knows, maybe the student will become the master? ;) Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to meeting you.

BA Law - University of Pretoria

I have completed a Bachelor of Arts in Law (cum laude), majoring in English Literature with distinction.

Subjects taught
  • English Literature

I studied BA Law at the University of Pretoria from 2017-2019, majoring in English Literature. I received a distinction for English in first and second semester of my final year, as well as in matric. I believe I am best suited to tutor this subject because of the comprehensive knowledge and skill that I have acquired in the English language throughout the years I have had the pleasure of learning about it. I am particularly passionate about English Literature because of its personal impact on my recent life. The question isn't so much, "how much do we know about Shakespeare" but rather, "how well does Shakespeare know us?" The ability of literature to preserve itself over centuries stems from the fact that if you remove the words and punctuation, what lies at the heart of literature is human experience. And human experience is what connects us all universally, regardless of our differences. What was human experience in the 17th/18th century, remains human experience now. I made a choice to major in English Literature when I had a variety of modules to choose from. I hope you will make the decision to choose me as your tutor despite the variety of tutors at your disposal. Tuks has equipped me with sufficient practice and an abundance of experience in this subject and I am excited to be able to utilize what I have gained to help someone else better their understanding of English Literature, as well as enrich their life as much as English Literature has enriched mine.

  • Writing

I studied BA Law at the University of Pretoria from 2017-2019, majoring in English Literature. I believe I am best suited to tutor this subject because of the comprehensive knowledge and skill that I have acquired in the English language throughout the years I have had the pleasure of learning about it. My BA Law degree has undoubtedly equipped me with sufficient practice in extensive reading and essay writing, as well as an abundance of experience in this aspect of the English language. I believe that writing is a fundamental skill that everyone should possess and feel comfortable with, as it is a basic skill that any tertiary education and future employer will require. Therefore, I am excited to be able to utilize the skills I have gained, including how to organise one's thoughts, plan an essay, form a proper introduction and conclusion and write a well-structured essay/article etc. I am determined to help someone else improve their writing skills and give them the confidence to write beautifully, creatively and concisely in tests, exams and thereafter! I am patient and willing to work with all ages.
