I am Afrikaans speaking, and excelled in the subject in High School. In my career as Advocate, I draft lots of documents on a daily basis, and converse in Afrikaans in consultations and in Court. I also read a lot of Afrikaans literature.

I grew up as fully bilingual, speaking English to my father and Afrikaans to my mother. My primary and high school education was all in Afrikaans. Thus, I view Afrikaans as my home language. I would love to help non-Afrikaans speaking students understand this intricate language, whether it is grammar and concord or Afrikaans Literature. I also achieved a distinction for Afrikaans in my Matric year.

I do an initial assessment to understand the leaner’s general level of proficiency, wherafter an analysis is done to identify specific areas of improvements. Tailormade, individual classes to assist with moving the learner to the next level, while addressing identified areas of improvement. I use animations, characters, rhymes and mind maps to stimulate interest, create context and tranfer knowledge. I teach through associations, using both visual and audio sensors to assist with understanding memory retention. I focus on reading and writing, and pronunciation where required.

I achieved an 89% at the end of matric. I have notes and summaries of all the language aspects of the subject and can greatly help with the writing of speeches and how to insure the writing of quality essays. Ek het Afrikaans in graad 2 begin leer. My Afrikaans is dalk nie die beste in the wereld nie, maar ek weet hoe om dit te skryf, lees and 'n bietjie kommunikeer. Afrikaans kan 'n bietjie hard wees om te leer, so ek wil jou help om die klein dingetjies te verstaan. I have been Tutoring Afrikaans (First Additional Language) in the Kyalami area for the past year to grade 6, 7and 8 learners. I go the extra mile to include material from newspapers, tv and radio; making the language real, because many families do not speak Afrikaans at home, making it hard for students to develop a vocabulary and to understand the value of knowing another language.

Afrikaans is my Home Language and I spend most of my free time studying literature and reading. Poetry is an art form for me and I have tutored Afrikaans for over four years. I am able to break down complex language structures and identify key elements which learners can expect in exams.

Tutoring Afrikaans has been a passion of mine for many years. I have written the ATKV Afrikaans Olympiad twice and have been awarded a bronze and silver medal respectively. It is a beautiful language and I love sharing my knowledge of it with my students.

Afrikaans is my second language and I come from a predominantly Afrikaans family. This gives me the ability to be able to understand and speak Afrikaans but explain in English. Afrikaans is a very simple language and taking the time to learn it will be worth while.

Afrikaans were one of my top subjects in school. I especially enjoyed the all the rules of the language and understanding how to write and speak the language correctly. I am also fond of the literature and enjoy explaining poetry
