I describe myself as a very driven, energetic individual with an immense love for children. I believe that being around children heals the heart. Since a very young age, I have always enjoyed being around children younger than me. The self-appointed responsibility of babysitting my cousins carried through to adulthood with now being lucky enough to co-raise my brother. I discovered my love for teaching in High School right after I became part of an organisation who helps children in need. This sense of accountability when looking after and teaching children, lights a fire inside my heart. I aspire to cultivate and use this fire like to light up the path for children who need it most.

I am currently in my final year at Stellenbosch University where I am doing my Bachelors in Mathematical Science: Computer Science and I am a Software Developer at allaboutXpert. In addition to this, I had IT as a subject in high school and all together I have 8 years of coding experience.

Hi! My name is Izabel. I am a freelance artist/illustrator and tutor and I love all things creative. I have a Master's degree in Literature from the University of Cape Town, which is also where I did my Bachelor's degree. I'm a big book nerd who enjoys reading fiction, fantasy and I the odd bit of poetry. I recently spent a year abroad and learned a lot about myself and parts of Western Europe. I can speak and understand a bit of Dutch and a bit of Spanish. I enjoy cooking, spending time with friends and participating in alternative sports like climbing and slacklining. I also love a good film accompanied by some popcorn.

My name is Niekie and I'm a qualified Electrical and Electronic Engineer from Stellenbosch University. I find Mathematics to be my favourite subject with the Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) being a close second. I enjoy these subjects, because they are objective and thus have a wrong or right answer, regardless of opinion. There are concrete rules and methods to follow and once you understand these rules and methods, you understand the work. I like the simplicity of that. But more than just liking Mathematics because of the simplicity, I love the fact that it opens up your mind to problem-solving. You get taught various methods to solve a problem (like the different ways of factorization) and then need to use problem-solving to find the best solution to the problem at hand. This skill of problem-solving will be used for the rest of your life, inside and outside of math tests. Maths just helps you to refine that skill. I also firmly believe that every person on this earth can do maths with ease. You can count, right? You can add, subtract, multiply, and divide, right? So you can do maths. Now we just need to teach you some new things in maths. And of course, you have the ability to learn that, I just need to explain it to you in the right way. Because in maths, there are multiple ways to solve a certain type of problem and we need to find the tool that you fit with best. You are completely capable of mastering this subject. It's really not as scary as you think. I know, because I used to be scared of it too. And then I realized, with the help of an amazing tutor, that all my fears were just me not understanding the work yet and that's where he came in to help me. I really hope to not just help those struggling with maths, but to open their eyes to the beauty and wonders of the subject and maybe awaken a love for the subject in them, that my tutor awoke in me.

I am an A- grade student who is in Highschool. I tutor in Mathematics, Mathematics lit, Geography. I believe that all learners can be A-grade students with the right mindset and with people who are willing to help. I am patient and willing to explore new ways in which children can learn.

I am a qualified school teacher with over 6 years of teaching experience. I studied Applied English Language Studies, Media and Journalism at Stellenbosch University. I then went on to study my Post Graduate Certificate in Education and have been teaching both High School and Primary School grades ever since. I have experience teaching English and Mathematics mainly, but have also taugh Science and Social Sciences at lower grades. I am a very patient and enthusiastic teacher and I love being able to work one on one with my students where I'm able to dedicate more time to helping my students progress.
