My passion is educating others and helping them reach their goals. Since early 2018 I have worked full time as an educator in Sport Management and Sport Marketing, and in 2019 I added Coaching and Fitness Science to my workload. Further, for the past two years I have worked as an ad-hoc external moderator for Boston City Campus. In 2018 I founded Pacer Running, working with runners from the elite level to beginner, as well as organising trail running events. I am also a competitive runner with a focus on ultra trail distances, as well as being an ambassador to Altra Running and Squirrels Nut Butter South Africa. I pursued a certificate in Personal Training from the Exercise Teachers Academy in 2007, and worked as a supplement sales promotor and a representative from 2007 to 2011 for USN, SSN, and Biogen. I have worked as a personal trainer, Wellness and Fitness Manager in fitness clubs, data acquisition and testing manager, and technical writer. Personal Information: I am a second year student at the University of Pretoria currently studying BSc Mathematics with a double major in Economics. I have a blind twin brother and from early childhood, the values of patience and helping others were instilled in me. I learned that everyone does things at a different pace, but it doesn't mean they can't get it right when they have the appropriate guidance. My name is Megan and I was born and raised in Johannesburg. I went to St Mary's School in Waverly. After matriculating I took a gap year and worked in the hospitality industry abroad. In 2011 I began my Bachelor of Arts degree at Rhodes University. In 2014 I graduated majoring in English and Photojournalism. For the next 5 years, I worked in the corporate photography industry, photographing travel trade events, and moving on to work for Edcon, photographing apparel in the studio for the eCommerce website. Leaving the corporate world towards the end of 2019, I completed my TESOL certificate and flew to Thailand to teach English to Korean children at a summer camp for one month. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience teaching and decided to make a career change. Upon returning home due to the pandemic, I began teaching English to Chinese children online. Although quite challenging adjusting to teaching online, I really enjoy teaching the younger students and seeing how excited they become when they get something right. At about the same time I began tutoring English as a foreign language to international adults online and still am today. Through my travels, I was able to meet a few of them which was really a great experience. Currently studying a PGCE in Foundation Phase online through Cornerstone Institute, I have just returned from a year of teaching in Thailand. I am a very organized, hard-working professional who is passionate about getting as much practical experience as possible to become the best teacher that I can be.
