I am a passionate and hard-working student currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce-Double Major at the University of Witwatersrand. I enjoy working with numbers and have shown to be good at it as well. Mathematics has always been one of my favourite subjects and the one where my best marks were produced. I possess the traits that make me a good tutor such as the ability to listen well, being understanding, effective communicator, creative and patient to name a few. Education is extremely important and tutoring is my way of being beneficial to that sector in my capacity. I hope to obviously do more in future for this sector as it is one I am interested in helping develop.

Throughout my high school career, I found that as much as I learnt during class time, a fair amount of my learning involved going over the work again and practising answering questions. Unfortunately, this wasn't always easy and there were times I felt as though I couldn't reconcile what we did in class and the work I was doing alone. This was where tutors and extra lessons came in. I found that the help of my teachers and fellow students not only helped me do better, it also opened my mind to new and more effective ways of interacting with material. As a tutor, I want to help others in the same way that I was helped: by helping fellow students to better understand their work and to figure out and improve on what works best for them in their studying. I aim to be the kind of tutor who is open to criticism; knowing that students and tutors learn from each other and improve together.

My name is Dalveen Davies, a South African citizen. I am a Buyer, by profession. My skills include, but are not limited to, negotiating interacting with people of different ages and backgrounds, as well as building and nurturing relationships. In South Africa, in 2016, I decided to try and gain experience in teaching, so I offered an after school tutoring service to children of my family and friends. I soon realized, that teaching is something I feel very passionate about, and teaching the English language is particularly enjoyable for me. The second step was to obtain a TEFL certification through the accredited SEE TEFL in Chiang Mai Thailand. I accomplished this in February 2018. Since returning from Thailand in 2018, I have been a volunteer reading tutor. I grew up with teachers in my family and consider them to be a huge part of my early education. I’ve travelled extensively, both in Africa and other continents, and I take pleasure in learning about different cultures.
