I have 10 years experience teaching English as a First and Home Language. I have 6 years experience as the subject head of languages: moderating assessments and examination papers. I have completed various courses and training to keep up to date with changes in the system. I have been Head of Department of Educational Guidance for 2 years.

The English language has always been something I've thoroughly enjoyed. Being a keen reader and literature enthusiast since a young age, I naturally excelled in the study of the language. I spent most of my high school career in the Ad English stream, a separate syllabus focusing on more advanced language and literature content. In this time I have developed a keen understanding of English grammar, concord and vocabulary. Beyond the technical, my writing and poetry skills leave me more than capable of assisting any student looking to improve their grades. English is often a subject that brings down students who excel in other, more analytical subjects. I feel that this is truly unnecessary and that I can provide the knowledge and insight required to succeed in the study of the English language.

One of the intrinsic requirements of achieving an LLB Law degree is having strong English skills (both verbal and writing). Within the 4 years of my studies, I have mastered the art of English through research, drafting of various legal documents and writing.

I like reading books. I am constantly reading. Apart from having completed my PGCE with English as one of the majors, I think I have grown knowledge in terms of understanding literature. I am familiar with different strategies and perspectives regarding it. Thanks to PGCE, I am now farmiliar with different strategies to unpack it in such a way that it is accessible to the student.

I am proficient in the English language. I attained 71% in matric. I have a passion for reading and writing. My favorite genres include African literature, Biographies and Autobiographies. I have a passion for teaching.

I am an active, flexible, open-minded and team-orientated individual.I’m currently pursuing my Honours Degree in Psychology at the University of Pretoria. My open-mindedness and my benevolent personality allow me to relate well to people, and I can co-ordinate activities sufficiently with any resources presented. English has been one of my most favourite subjects and I grew to love it with every class. I even took an interest in writing poetry to this day because of my love for it. I write for the UCT newspaper and I've read and studied classics such as "War & Peace", " Anna Karenina" and "Don Quixote".
