Vocabulary building as and English student is essential to succeeding academically. In order to effectively communicate ideas in an engaging way, students need to develop an extensive vocabulary. My approach to learning vocabulary is to make it interesting and engaging rather than just learning lists of words that seem random and useless.

I was one of the top 10 English students throughout high school, and also received distinctions in English during university. I am qualified and am eager to tutor this subject.

In a nut shell, experience. Vocabulary is the foundation of English. I have had the privilege of teaching English to many age groups and I know that when students feel comfortable with vocabulary, they are more likely to excel and do well in other areas of English.

I had modules on teaching vocabulary in University. I also have experience teaching vocabulary to Grade 1 at Westerlig Primary. I know different techniques to teach vocabulary to different ages in both English and Afrikaans. I can also teach Afrikaans and English as both a home language or a first additional language. I also have a TEFL certificate and taught children in Thailand English vocabulary. I am good at creating activities and games for vocabulary. All my activities are based on CAPS.

Having gone through all my education in English, I have a good command of the English language. I also have a score of 9 in the General IELTS examination. I have tutoring experience and I have the desirable soft skills; patience, understanding and structure to successfully tutor this subject.

I am an education editor for an internationally accredited higher education institution, and I have former experience in lecturing English and Philosophy to both first and second/foreign language students. I received training and have teaching experience in both Australia and South Africa. This experience comprised both school- and university-level teaching and tutoring.
