I began teaching English before I even got my B.Ed. When I was in High School with 2 years left to graduate, a student transferred in from Taiwan. She could not speak a word of English and was due to graduate at the same time as me. I am proud to say, that with her dedication as well as my own, she was able to graduate in the same time as a First Language English speaker. We are still good friends today! I knew then that Education was my calling! No matter your age, your interests or your background, I believe we can learn a lot from each other. I always make it a goal to teach from a point of what interests you as the student.

I studied for 4 years to get my bachelors degree. At the same time, I was working as a student teacher at different schools. This gave me an opportunity to really understand different types of learning and how to reach students with all kinds of different backgrounds.

In a nut shell, experience. Vocabulary is the foundation of English. I have had the privilege of teaching English to many age groups and I know that when students feel comfortable with vocabulary, they are more likely to excel and do well in other areas of English.
