Hi there! My name is Tanya and I am 20 years old. I finished my B.A in Philosophy and French with Distinction at Wits last year. I now live in our beautiful city of Cape Town and I am an Honours student at UCT in Philosophy and French. I am passionate about and dedicated to education and making sure that everyone gets the help they need to achieve their potential. Most importantly, everyone needs to be given a chance to find what makes his or her life meaningful. I spent the last two years working in basic literacy and numeracy skills for grades 2 and 3 at government schools and I have been tutoring basic Spanish since March of this year. In my free time, I work with teenagers online and create fun and safe chat spaces for them to talk about their day-to-day lives. Each age brings with it new personalities and different levels and I love working with all ages as a result. I always make sure to make lessons fun and engaging because enthusiasm is key to learning. Overall, as my defining characteristic, I love helping people and I will make sure to do whatever I can to help them succeed!

My passion is educating others and helping them reach their goals. Since early 2018 I have worked full time as an educator in Sport Management and Sport Marketing, and in 2019 I added Coaching and Fitness Science to my workload. Further, for the past two years I have worked as an ad-hoc external moderator for Boston City Campus. In 2018 I founded Pacer Running, working with runners from the elite level to beginner, as well as organising trail running events. I am also a competitive runner with a focus on ultra trail distances, as well as being an ambassador to Altra Running and Squirrels Nut Butter South Africa. I pursued a certificate in Personal Training from the Exercise Teachers Academy in 2007, and worked as a supplement sales promotor and a representative from 2007 to 2011 for USN, SSN, and Biogen. I have worked as a personal trainer, Wellness and Fitness Manager in fitness clubs, data acquisition and testing manager, and technical writer. I have always been a hard worker, reliable, and someone who adapts to challenges. I am friendly, patient, and have a passion for learning and teaching. I am currently studying a BSc in Occupational Therapy which focuses on helping others adapt to daily challenges - assisting them to thrive in their daily occupations. Thus, I am skilled in identifying the challenges individuals face in their learning and can assist in overcoming difficulties. Having lived abroad in Beijing, China for two years, I have personal experience in changing curriculums and adapting to new methods of learning. I am a lecturer and an online English teacher with a Master's degree in Linguistics. I believe that education should be fun, and that the best way to learn is to really enjoy the course content. Anyways, I am currently a Data Engineer for one of the leading financial institutions in the country which comes with new exciting challenges everyday. I completed my Electronic engineering degree at the University of Pretoria and also managed to pull off a cum laude and top third student award. When I am not being a nerd you can find me burning down trails on my mountain bike, taking a swim in the ocean or watching F1 on a Sunday.
