I am a civil engineer and work with complex mathematics problem on a daily basis. The key to understanding complex mathematics problems is to have a sound knowledge of the mathematics basics which you start learning in school. I have great communication skills and am fluent in German, English and Afrikaans. I have a passion for helping other excel or improve at something.

Since January 2017 , I have been working as an online and private mathematics tutor , teaching students mathematics grades 1-12 /IGCSE/ AS and A level and Calculus . In 2014, after I completed my Cambridge IGCSE and A level education and received my exemption certificate , I enrolled at the University of South Africa (UNISA). I am a UNISA BSC Mathematics student and I have obtained A* distinctions for Mathematics , Calculus A and Calculus B modules and examinations. I am excited , passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and mathematics. When I teach I focus completely on the student and client , their needs and provide assessments to find gaps in your understanding of your coursework.I use humor as a means to 'break the ice' and I work at the student's pace.I encourage the student to give their best while I give my best to assist the student and client. I am relaxed when I teach and provide a calm environment for the student to learn in . As a student , I understand the pressures we face while we study and feel a deep sense of achievement when I make a difference with teaching.As a teacher I am patient and I understand the stress that studying puts on us. When I teach , I utilize a whiteboard, books , drawings, notes and other tools to assist the student. I find the best method to ensure the student understands their work.I always discuss the work thoroughly with the student as I believe mathematics should be discussed in detail to ensure the student understands their work. I liaise directly with the student and client,provide feedback on lessons and try to teach mathematics in the most simple and easy to understand way.I understand the difficulties students face at school , especially when teachers rush students through the syllabus. With this subject, the best approach is to go into practicing straight up and try to build the why factor, or the intuition and the logic of why we use certain operations. But the most important element is continuous practice, and building the intuition as we go. Two I can assist students by offering breakdown of some of the concepts as we go along.

Maths has always been my favorite subject during school and I always received high marks. I did Mathematics in three different curriculums, A-Levels (AS and A2), NSC, and IEB (AP Maths). I achieved A* and 99% as my final marks respectively. To grow and amplify my ability in Maths, I have been involved in various activities: including peer tutoring, private tutoring, camps, and competitions at international and domestic levels, most of which I made Top 10, and some of which I won.

I did very well in pure mathematics in high school and ended up with an A at the end of matric for mathematics. I also have previous experience in tutoring my peers and other learners in mathematics when i was in high school. I also did Calculus and LInear Algebra in my first year of University.

I have a vast working knowledge of Cambridge/PYP/CAPS/Singapore and other approaches. Making sense of number and engendering confidence forms part and parcel of my approach, together with developing recall and retention skills
