My name is Catherine and I love to learn! My belief is that all students require different methods of learning because not all students are the same. With the correct skills in learning and studying any student can excel. It all comes down to routine, good learning habits, correct study methods and memory techniques. When a student actively takes charge of their studies, their success engenders an enjoyment for learning which in turn encourages further success. Every individual is unique and no one study method works for everyone. Understanding the learner's strengths and weaknesses can assist in finding out what techniques will work best for learning. When the right study method is being used, memory follows. My testament to truth of the above statement is in my own achievements. I was an average school learner who struggled with many subjects. But a combination of determination and hard work, continuous study and a development of good study habits and methods brought me to the end of my Matric year with seven distinctions. This was not something I could have achieved without the help of good tutors and teachers. I have an Honour's degree in Jewellery Design and Manufacturing and I am currently studying for a BA in Ancient History and Classical Culture.

I am passionate about this subject. I care about each and every student and offer them individualized teaching/tutoring/educational support - study skills, organization, etc. tailored to the individual student . My training and experience allows me to be an excellent support for the student.

I love teaching, but I also understand the difficulty of learning. I struggled with many things in school and I had to learn how to work on my weak areas. I can help you work on your weaker areas too.

I am currently a third year Social Work Student at the University of the Witwatersrand. My motivation to embark on my social work came from my interest in psychology and stemmed from my time during school where I joined the outreach team. I have always felt passionate about helping people in any way that I could and through my time with the outreach team I was exposed to many children much younger then myself as well as the same age and the horrific and the horrific and appalling conditions they were forced to grow up in. Having been exposed to the in comprehensive amounts of physical and emotional abuse these children have suffered, their neglect and abandonment and trauma have made me feel passionate about wanting to make a difference. It also peeked my interesting into the field of child social work. I strive to make a difference in the lives of young children as I believe every child deserves a chance at a life full of joy, love and protection. Through my social work journey I aim to acquire the skills and knowledge that enables me to one day, help save a vulnerable child’s life by placing him or her in a healthy environment where they are cared and protected for, as well as intertwining my ever growing interest and passion for psychology in my work by helping heal the scars of these vulnerable children’s pasts. I believe that I am a fun, kind and selfless individual with a deep passion for helping people and animals. As a student social worker I am open-minded, respectful and accepting, thus I am adaptive to the uniqueness of each persons differences and diversities. I am currently saving up to go study fine arts and art history. I paint and draw in my free time and also enjoy writing stories and poetry. I love reading and the dramatic arts. I am very interested in english literacy aswell. I work well with people and am very patient. I am a creative and visual thinker. I work as an au pair during the day and lived in America for two months working as an au pair.

I also worked for three years in Taiwan - teaching English. I love to teach. It makes my life worthwhile.

I have experience with Art History at a Tertiary level. History of Art helps in understanding contemporary art and the key principles that influence art-making. I hope to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with students.

Art was one of my subjects taken in highschool I excell at art theory especially. And can understand what is required to get 100% on even final exams - as I often did I received for 3 years in a row the certificate for highest marks in Visual arts With the Oosthuizen Trophy Award in my final Matric year

I achieved 95% average in Matric for Art Theory and History, and it is a huge aspect of what I currently study. I love everything about art, and have also gained an enriched and global perspective of the subject by studying and living in Florence, Italy, the home of Renaissance and Classical Art. This will surely set me apart from other tutors in the field, and I am confident in knowledge of the subject.

I love art history so much. It has always been a passion of mine so much so that I very nearly studied fine art before deciding to study politics and philosophy instead. I excelled at art receiving over 90% for my practical exam and 89% for my final year mark. I also minored in Art History at university. I would love to help teach someone the endlessly fascinating history of art and artists by contextualising their work within their own time and place.
