History of Art tutors in Western Cape

Art is my passion. I got 85% for it in high school and am currently in my fourth year studying Fine Art at the Michaelis School of Fine Art which is part of the University of Cape Town. I can tutor art practice, art theory and art history. I have a firm grasp of art history/theory and understand how to teach it in an exciting and effective way.

Art is a great passion of mine. It was my favourite subject in school where I won an interhouse art competition & got an A for matric. I have been to various museums around the world and have a vast general knowledge of the subject.

Having studied a degree in Fine Art I have much experience in this subject and content. This included the way the visual world influences us on a daily basis and how students need to become more visually literate in how to read adverts. Fine Art teaches us that there numerous ways of seeing a situation and how important it is to contextualise a visual moment. I have much experience in art theory and how to write effectively in terms of structure and content. I can therefore help students to improve the way that they write specific to an art historical context.

I studied Visual Art and Art history in grades 11-12. Although visual art is not my fine suite, I still have the knowledge and ability to help learners where necessary. I am great with Art History and can guide learners into breaking down the questions, identifying the meaning and, constructing the perfect answer. As stated above, I love essay writing and story telling, its easy to get creative. I can help learners not only visualize through their perspective, but through the artists.

I am a certified teacher with a degree in Fine Arts and a Post Graduate Certification in Education from UCT. I am passionate about my subjects, Art and Design and know that whatever your subject goal is, we can work together to achieve it.

I enjoy working with children and have a passion for learning and teaching. I was born in 1993 in Nelspruit South Africa, grew up in Johannesburg and am currently living in Cape Town. I graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor in Fine Art (BFA) in 2015 and am currently studying towards a Masters in Fine Art (MFA) at the University of Cape Town. I work primarily in video, film, installation and sculpture and am proficient in South African contemporary Art and general art history. I recently exhibited in the Seven Hills 2nd Kampala Biennale: Virtual Mobilities, curated by Elise Atangana, with a focus on selected video. I was also recently nominated for best experimental short by the Top Indie Film Awards 2016; and showed at the Joburg Fringe in an interactive collection of videos curated by Dean Hutton titled OpenlinkXchange.

Interested in History, Social Sciences, Architecture, Urbanism, Travelling, Photography, Nutrition and Sports (trekking, kayaking, cycling, football, basketball, tennis, squash and badminton),etc.

I graduated with my English and Philosophy Honours degree within 2018, achieving full academic colours. Prior to this, I graduated in Philosophy, English and Psychology, being placed on the Dean's List. I enjoy engaging with theory and I love encouraging conversations around critical thought, specifically within the world of literature. I have been within the teaching sphere since the age of 15, having worked with children and teenagers of all ages throughout the last ten years. Additionally, I held a tutoring position while at varsity in 2016, giving me high-level experience of teaching. Having worked both with individuals and with groups, I feel I have developed skills in holding a creative space; monitoring the learning process so as to develop the correct skills for analysis and writing; and mediating between both myself and my students, and amongst the students themselves. In terms of school-age student tutoring, I am particularly capable in the essay-writing sphere, and am predominantly interested in tutoring English. I would require information on my tutee's subject matter and syllabus, and would design their work around their particular school, work requirements, and skills and weaknesses. In terms of university, and/or other tutoring requirements, I am available for tutoring English and Philosophy, and for the teaching of English to older persons. I teach via Skype, and would be delighted to set up an initial Skype interview to see if we are a good match!

I am a Masters Student at UCT currently studying Human Rights and Private Law. I also have two other degrees, an Undergraduate in Politics and Law and a Bachelors of Law. I am a highly capable reader and writer with a brilliant proficiency in English, History, Art History and all Legal Subjects. I am patient and hard working and hope to assist anyone with academic help p so that they can reach their full potential.
