Grammar is often viewed as the more difficult aspect of English. However, with my guidance, grammar can become a jump over a hurdle, from what was seen as an impossible leap over a mountain. Grammar can be fun, it is all about perspective.

I have received 86% for my overall English subject when matriculating high school and have too received 84% for AP English. More prominently I have completed three years of undergraduate English studies at Wits University. This means that I have a profound understanding of rigorous writing processes of editing and proofreading on a grammatical level as acquired from my English studies as we had to continuously write compelling academic essays.

I think I would be best at teaching grammar because I always did well and enjoyed this subject at school. I also studied this when doing my TEFL course and I have a passion for it! I believe that it is an important skill to learn when learning languages.

Through the communicative approach, I 'trick' learners into new grammar by getting them to use the structures without knowing, and then teach them more about the structures and examples thereof. For more advanced learners, I use the flipped-learning approach where students discover the grammar for themselves, try their hand at it, and then revise it in the classroom where they identify and correct their own or their peers' mistakes

I am passionate about English grammar as it can completely alter the meaning of a sentence. For example, take the well-known phrase about the panda: "Eats shoots and leaves" which describes what type of food the panda consumes. But, put a comma in the wrong place, and you get: "Eats, shoots and leaves" and all of a sudden, you are talking about a panda who enters an establishment, and once he finishes his meal, he draws a firearm, fires it, and then leaves. I thoroughly enjoy teaching English grammar to both avoid and understand these types of grammatical inconsistencies and try to include amusing annecdotes to help make my lessons more enjoyable.
