Writing tutors in Pretoria

I recently did all of this for my matric finals. I am also very strong in this area as I achieved quite well in it, in matric. I loved English when I was in highschool because it allowed me to be creative and it forces on to push their creative limits.

Writing and reading - I am passionate about writing and reading, so I think I would be able to tutor through such an angle. I am willing to assist and train people with regarding to writing, as I know sometimes writing especially academic writing style is not easy, I struggled with it myself.

I am the best tutor because I completed a aced the ”English for academic purposes” course for university level, I took Advanced Programme English in high school and completed in an academic decathlon called The World Scholars Cup where we placed 1st for the regional round. Albeit my merits and accolades, I also genuinely enjoy English and the language in general so I will be pleased to assist.

I have always thoroughly enjoyed writing and have developed decent skills in creative and formal writing during my school and university years. I am a creative person and I will be able to teach correct techniques and ways to catch a reader’s attention from the beginning. I am also studying foundation phase teaching so I have been trained to help learners who struggle with writing.

Writing is a very freeing process. It allows you to be able to be as free as you want to be and enables one to dive into any world they wish to create. It is the best form of self-expression. Writing similar to literature allows people who may not be able to express themselves verbally to do so in writing.

I studied BA Law at the University of Pretoria from 2017-2019, majoring in English Literature. I completed my degree (cum laude) and received a distinction for English in first and second semester of my final year, as well as in matric. I believe I am best suited to tutor this subject because of the comprehensive knowledge and skill that I have acquired in the English language throughout the years I have had the pleasure of learning about it. My BA Law degree has undoubtedly equipped me with sufficient practice in extensive reading and essay writing, as well as an abundance of experience in this aspect of the English language. I believe that writing is a fundamental skill that everyone should possess and feel comfortable with, as it is a basic skill that any tertiary education and future employer will require. Therefore, I am excited to be able to utilize the skills I have gained, including how to organise one's thoughts, plan an essay, form a proper introduction and conclusion and write a well-structured essay/article etc. I am determined to help someone else improve their writing skills and give them the confidence to write beautifully, creatively and concisely in tests, exams and thereafter! I am patient and willing to work with all ages.

I have 10 years experience teaching English as a First and Home Language. I have 6 years experience as the subject head of languages: moderating assessments and examination papers. I have completed various courses and training to keep up to date with changes in the system. I have been Head of Department of Educational Guidance for 2 years.

I started reading at 5 years old. Not children’s books, but the newspaper. I have an ability to write in a more mature, yet understandable way, while also having the ideas to make a story come alive. I was placed into the top matric class for Cambridge English for this exact reason and passed halfway through the year already, allowing me to bank the subject then.

I'm a very avid reader and freelance write when I have the time. I also write essays for college assignments and therefore, have to use extensive vocabulary. I am most passionate about creative writing as well as helping students out with speeches and giving out topic ideas that could help in them.

Being a poet and having attended multiple public speaking competitions; I certify myself a top of the range creative and classy writer. I guide those I am tutoring into being witty and extraordinary writers such as myself. I am able to assist other to think out of the box and let their imaginations run wild.
