English tutors in Pretoria

I am an avid reader with a respectable lexicon. I obtained an A average for my IEB NSC exams in 2018. I have also completed two English literature modules at the University of Pretoria. I look up to my Mom who is a grade 5 English teacher.

I have 10 years experience teaching English as a First and Home Language. I have 6 years experience as the subject head of languages: moderating assessments and examination papers. I have completed various courses and training to keep up to date with changes in the system. I have been Head of Department of Educational Guidance for 2 years.

I got a distinction in English (FAL) in my Matric. I enjoy the subject in general and look forward to assisting the learners in improving their performance in the subject. I am patient and enjoy reading novels.

Because of my years of experience and diversity of children who I have tutored, I have learnt invaluable skills to help students understand and enjoy being taught various skills in English. My passion for reading and for the languages come through when I am teaching.

I have a passion for the English language. As a lover of books and as a writer, English is very important to me and a critical skill to my craft. It's something that I'm often working on improving and thinking about. I believe that learning the English language is one of the greatest skills that a person can learn because language, and specifically English [in a global context] is our go to mode of communication and can help build bridges and bonds amongst wide array of people.

As stated in my introduction , that I am a hard worker and is very dedicated. I have been teaching for 6 years and currently doing my honours in curriculum design. The reason why i chose curriculum specifically is to make room especially for learners who struggles with certain criteria and make sure the curriculum adapts to learners needs by creating enough room for developing. I go the extra mile to ensure the content is well understood. I can also assist in Afrikaans, Technology , Maths and Science.

I have achieved distinctions and awards for best academic performance in English. I also achieved the highest mark for Afrikaans. I am passionate about languages and sub categories such as poetry and the analysis thereof. I love teaching and I am very pedantic when it comes to grammar.

I achieved an 86% at the end of matric. I have many notes that can help with the language and literature sections of tests as well as semiotic analysis training which can help with cartoon analysis. Speeches contribute a large amount to the final exam and it is an area that I can assist with greatly.
