I have been working in private higher education for 7 years now and have been studying non stop since I left high school. So it is safe to say that I have a passion for education. At this point I have qualifications in Psychology, Research, Proofreading/copy editing and a TEFL with a Business English booster. One of my favourite things is to teach students how language use can differ from one context to another and how important the correct vernacular is for individual contexts. Your language use, both written and spoken, has such an impact on your personal brand, and knowing how to use this to your advantage is essential.

I am currently completing my last semester in my B.ED degree through UNISA. I am a fun and patient individual and I have a passion for teaching children and helping them succeed. I have been working with children for 6 years. I have experience with barriers to learning. I have taught children from 2 years up until Grade 8. My name is Justin. I am a qualified intermediate phase teacher with a bachelor of education degree. I have also attained a 150hr TEFL course. I have worked in two international schools, one being in Thailand and the other in Vietnam. During my contacts at these establishments I taught English to both highschool and primary school students. I believe in a holistic approach to teaching and learning. Not only does the student grow mentally but also socially, psychologically, and emotionally. It also instills curiosity and creativity in the learner. This allows for student individuality to occur through the variety of teaching and learning styles within the holistic approach.

I am creative and fun and sometimes believe that sarcasm is a language :-) I love my dogs and enjoy taking them for walks. I have a baby boy who is my whole world. Life is an experience and school should not have to be a drag - so I do my best to help wherever I can.

I matriculated in 2014 with a 83% average and I was involved in many spheres at school (music, sport, first aid, leadership). After this I took a gap year where I did 2 qualifications in coaching sport. In 2016 I started with my studies towards becoming a CA and I am currently doing my Honours while teaching a few classes at the gym. One day I would love to lecture at a university and I find that I really enjoy teaching, tutoring and even instructing at the gym. My favourite part of tutoring is seeing students light up when a concept they have been struggling with “clicks”. I always try to use explanations that students can relate to because I believe that if you understand something it’s much easier than learning it and this has proven to be a successful way of teaching with past students that I have helped.
