Hi! I am a recent graduate from the University of Stellenbosch. I have a BSc degree in Human Life Science and Psychology, with a double major in Physiology and Psychology and a minor in Genetics. I also have a Postgraduate qualification in Education or PGCE (cum laude). I am a qualified teacher, specialising in Life Science Education as well as Life Orientation. As you can tell, I'm very passionate about the study of human beings. I am also a certified English language instructor. In addition to Language, Life Science and Psychology related subjects, my educational background equips me with knowledge about academic writing, reading, citation as well as study skills and methods. All together, I have 17 years of academic experience, which I am eager to share with you! My teaching style is relaxed, but adaptive. I adjust the lesson goals and teaching strategies according to the individual needs of each student. I find that engaged learning happens when people are relaxed and when they feel free to take risks and make mistakes. In our first session, we will get to know each other and I will ask you about your expectations from our sessions and your specific goals. We can then decide on the structure of future sessions. I will tailor each lesson to your needs and adapt to your specific situation and your current subject and/or language ability. I am excited to meet you and to help you reach your learning goals :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSSJUUB-4LY&t=1s - My Introduction Video

I am currently working from home as an online English tutor/instructor. I have taught a variety of students of different ages. Lately I have been teaching adults and University students, but I would happily accommodate younger students - I love working with children.
I have 8 weeks experience as an assistant teacher for FET phase Life Science and FET phase LO. I taught the classes on my own under the supervision of a mentor. I also taught a few grade 8 biology classes. This is called a school practicum and forms part of the requirements for all teaching qualifications.
TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language and TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Similar terms for these that you may have heard would be ESL or EFL.
A PGCE is a one year course one can do after completion of any bachelors degree. This course qualifies you to teach the subjects you majored in during your bachelors degree. I can now register with the council of educators (SACE) as a qualified teacher. My subject specializations are Life Science and LO for the FET phase.
BSc (Science) degree in Human Life Science (Biology) and Psychology. Double major in: Physiology and Psychology Minored in Genetics
I completed a 150 hour TEFL/TESOL course and received the certificate with distinction. This qualification permits me to teach English as a foreign language or English to speakers of other languages in all phases from pre-school to adult level. I am in fact planning to move to Eastern Asia next year and teach English full time. I have been working as an English tutor online since May of 2020 and I just love it!

I am in fact planning to move to Asia later this year and teach English full time. Furthermore, I studied in English at University, which is a combined four years. The assessments for my very last year of studies (a PGCE) were mostly in the form of essays. Coming from a science background, I had to learn the basics of academic English writing again and at the end of the year, I received six distinctions and graduated cum laude. This means that i can guide someone from: "How do I begin?" right up to: "How do I make this great?" Additionally I have a great love for writing .

Although my qualification is for teaching biology in the FET phase, teachers with a qualification such as this often teach natural sciences to lower grades. It is after all the foundation of biology studies.

I have a BSc degree in Human Life Science. My two majors were physiology and psychology. In my three years of psychology studies, I received three distinctions and made the Dean's list twice. I decided to study psychology, because I have close personal experience with some psychological disorders. My interest in psychology is therefor not merely academic, but personal and passionate. I plan to further my studies in Psychology in the very near future, after gaining some more life experience.

I am a qualified teacher. I studied PGCE (Postgraduate Certification in Education) at the University of Stellenbosch in 2019 and I graduated cum laude. Although I am mainly qualified to teach grade 10, 11 and 12, I have experience with younger children and lived at home before studying education where I helped my little brother with his home work every day. He was grade 5 and 6 at the time. Helping him with his studies was one of the main reasons I decided to study education.
