My name is Amanuel Betemekdes. I am a life-long learner and a final year student at university of Cape Town majoring in applied statistics, applied biology, and ecology & evolution. While working on academic and extracurricular projects, I developed proven communication, problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills, which I hope to leverage into this program.

I am a very social human being. I love listening to people and learning. I've devoted all of my free time to tutoring as my way of giving back to the society. I ran a tutoring program with two of my peers in high school so I can say I have been doing this from an early age. Spend the last year tutoring for an NGO called TeachOut. I am involved in 4 volunteering programs. I believe to be able to explain something you have to understand it first and I devoted countless hours into understanding these subjects which is something I am still continuing to do.

Hello! I am Cara and I am an accredited English tutor with over a thousand hours of experience teaching all ages and skill levels. I have taught all kinds of classes, from basics to business. I live in Cape Town where I teach full-time at TutorABC, where I have been employed since October 2018. I love my job because it utilizes my creative faculties and my emotional intelligence - I find it genuinely rewarding. In my personal time, I enjoy studying, skateboarding and making art. I have devised my own strategies for making lessons interactive, enjoyable and comfortable for individuals and classes of up to six students. I am an academic and a creative, I graduated at the top of my class from CityVarsity with a higher certificate in Journalism. I have received numerous accolades for my English skills, including an award from the English Olympiad. I also have six months of experience looking after children from 3 to 14 years old, so I consider myself to be good with kids.

I am currently working as a Junior Data Scientist at the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) under the Square Kilometer Array Africa (SKA-Africa) project. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Physics, an Honours degree in Astrophysics and recently, I hold an MSc specializing in Astronomy and Data Science with the University of Cape Town. I have a passion for knowledge sharing because I believe that education is the only tool we have that can change the world. Hence, I have more than 8 years of experience of tutoring dating way back when I was still in high school. Mathematics and Physical Sciences are my most two favourite subjects because I want to change the stigma associated with these two subjects.
