English as a foreign Language tutors in Johannesburg

I have attained a 180 Hour Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) through i-to-i. Furthermore, I also have experience teaching English to high school students ranging from grades 8 through to 12.

Having gone through all my education in English, I have a good command of the English language. I also have a score of 9 in the General IELTS examination. I have tutoring experience and I have the desirable soft skills; patience, understanding and structure to successfully tutor this subject.

I hold a Tesol certification as well as a PGCE. I have four years of experience in English in ESL teaching and private tutoring. I having experience in teaching English from ages 4 to adults. I am very passionate about teaching this subject and am able to make lessons fun and engaging as well as being very patient.

I have always been in involved in teaching and developing skills in one form or another whether it was when volunteering to work with pre-school children in Minnesota, USA or as a senior English HL language facilitator in Johannesburg. Having been an English Home Language teacher for 10 years at senior high school level, I have become passionate about skill building.

I am an Honours Communication Science graduate.

I have completed my Grade 8 in piano and used to run a music Academy - would love to teach again.

My passion for teaching comes from my own love for developing understanding and fostering communication, with outcome- oriented thinking forming the basis for my teaching ethos. I believe that through my teaching experiences, I can contribute to the goal of providing holistic education. I am an engaging, dynamic and professional individual, currently completing a Masters thesis at Wits University. I recently spent a year in South Korea teaching English to middle and high school learners, and I have previously tutored primary and high school learners, coached swimming part- time for four years, and acted as a teaching assistant in first- year BSc courses at Wits University, where I was responsible for identifying learning gaps, conducting experiments and assessing and providing constructive feedback to students. I have honed and developed my ability to communicate effectively with learners of all ages, mastered the classroom management and administration necessary to execute lessons smoothly, and developed my planning skills to cater for meeting the learning objectives of learners at multiple levels.
