I studied microbiology and biochemistry at University and went on to get my PhD in Biochemistry. After that I worked as a research scientist in the Cell Biology Department at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. I hold more than two years’ experience in working in a biochemistry laboratory as a student assistant in assessing, assisting, preparing, invigilating and facilitating students during their practical sessions. I have attended conferences of which I was exposed to networking and exchanging commentary scientific reviews with international scientists, which broadened and sharpened some of my strengths and weaknesses. I specialised in this module up until my honors degree. I can help students understand the basic molecular and cell biology easier and in its simplest manner

Molecular and Cell Biology is a constantly evolving field. I completed a full course in Molecular Medicine in my 2nd Year of Medicine, and am well placed to know, understand, and teach the elements of this field. Molecular pathways are one of my personal interests. I was awarded the Laurie and Flossie Adler Award for Haematology, given to the top Molecular Medicine student in Medicine, with 92 percent. Covered in the course were diverse fields such as Immunology, cellular replication, microRNAs, molecular cancer characteristics, infectious diseases, genetics and signalling pathways.

I have a good understanding of the subject and I have good background to tutor the subject both practically and theoretically. By excelling in Biology, biochemistry , biotechnology and microbiology. My bachelor of science degree is a combined major of biochemistry, advanced cell biology, and physiology. I have a high level of understanding of science and I am currently a teaching assistant in Wits, which assists undergraduate students during practical sessions involving the teaching of theory, demonstration of techniques, and marking work including scientific assignments and essays. I am able to extend my teaching to high school students, primary school students, and university students.

My Masters project is focused on the molecular biology of viruses. Additionally, during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I completed several courses on molecular and cellular biology to be able to qualify for my Masters.

Biology was my favorite subject in High School and my first semester at University. I am very passionate about the subject, I am studying medicine, and want to help others understand and feel passionate and confident about the subject too.

I studied this in-depth in my BSc degree. I am happy to help with specific topics/modules, help throughout the year and/or help with prepping for tests and exams. I hold a postgrad degree in exactly this subject from Africa's leading university for this - UCT. I have a practical and theoretical understanding of Cell and Molecular Biology and the techniques applied therein. My final dissertation: A 90 Day post-pancreatectomy analysis of rat pancreatic regeneration, involved immunocyto/histochemistry, fluorescent, DIC, and confocal microscopy.
