I am currently doing my Masters in Microbiology, and am passionate about teaching the fundamentals of Biology, Genetics and English. I have a BSc in Genetics and Microbiology, and an Honours degree in Microbiology.

Microbiology Tutor
While studying towards my post graduate degrees, I help out as a tutor for the varying Microbiology courses. So far my focus has been mainly on tutoring First year Microbiology. I help them through their tutorial sessions, and tutor them privately if they need extra help.
Pet sitter
I worked through a company called Student Co. Each house sitting opportunity was different, depending on the client's needs. Sometimes I was required to stay at the home, and look after the pets, other times I would just need to visit the house once or twice a day. It was a great job to have while I was busy studying.

BSc Microbiology and Medical Genetics - University of Pretoria
Although challenging, I absolutely loved doing this course. I was initially registered for Biotechnology, but my fascination in Human Genetics and the combined use of recombinant DNA technology with Microbiology inspired me to change my degree to what it was.
BSc (Honours)Microbiology - University of Pretoria
Probably the most challenging, yet rewarding year I have ever experienced. My project was focused on Molecular Virology, where I worked with reverse genetic systems to identify the modification sites of a specific gene of African Horse Sickness Virus (AHSV). The results from my Honours project actually inspired me to continue into my Masters under the same supervisor, working on the same project. It really opened up my eyes to the beauty and complexity of even the smallest organisms, and how biological systems change when challenged by infection.

Throughout my postgraduate studies, I have needed to write many academic pieces, from literature reviews to biological essays. All these pieces requires a certain level of understanding, not only of the course work, but of the English language to correctly portray the information and concepts. I'm confident I can help students master the basics of the English written language.

Molecular and Cellular Biology
My Masters project is focused on the molecular biology of viruses. Additionally, during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I completed several courses on molecular and cellular biology to be able to qualify for my Masters.

I tutor first year Microbiology students through the University of Pretoria, and am passionate about cultivating a love for the subject.
