Nidhi Amanda Chaitow (BApp.Soc.Sci.) is a seasoned psychosocial counsellor and group facilitator offering a wide range of individual sessions, workshops, and therapeutic programmes using a person centred approach, drumming, mindfulness and somatic movement as tools for transformation, connection and healing. I completed a degree in Educational Pyschology and I have my Master degree in Educational Support. I love supporting students and I will be able assist them with strategies that will enable them to improve their work.

Ever since I can remember I naturally ended up teaching individuals things that I understood well. Friends often asking me in high school to help them with subjects they were struggling with (Maths & Science). It was the same at University - I helped friends to understand Psychometric calculations in Industrial psychology as well as computers (confidence in using computers for the first time, as well as formulas in Microsoft Excel. When I first arrived in the Uk I took a datacapturing job however soon started helping everyone in computers as many of them were struggling with using the Microsoft office packages. It was of no surprise that I went on to do part time studies in the Microsoft office packages and completed the Master MOUSE qualification (Microsoft Office User specialist to advanced level). From there I progressed on to becoming a High school teacher in computers (in job training and qualified at Brunel University, London, Uk) I taught for 7 years in a high school in London. I relocated to South Africa and have been a stay-at home mom until the beginning of this year as my daughter is now attending pre-school. I had four years in which I imparted many skills to my daugher including creating a good foundation in Afrikaans and English. My daughter is four years old and she is fully bilingual. As my daughter is now attending school I really would like to get back into teaching and I am particularly interested in tutoring as I really enjoy one-on-one teaching.

I am a fun and bubbly person with a vast subject knowledge. I pay special attention to each individual student and their strengths and tailor-make my lessons around their unique ways of learning. By combining my experience in teaching and psychology, I am able to offer a very special teaching experience.

I am kind, caring and have a lot of patience. . I guided learners through assignments, simply by breaking down the question. I have taught learners how to break up questions in their assignments by simply using a dictionary to look up words they do not know. Therefore, I understand that as a facilitator I will help learners individually which allows for learners to always feel included and not left behind.

I am a qualified Registered Counsellor. I have many years of tutoring individuals with special needs. I am flexible and able to adapt to what is best suited to each client. I create a safe space for the individual to learn and grow.

I am a Postgraduate Psychology student who has worked in volunteer placements with individuals living with physical and/or mental conditions that render them differently abled. I have, throughout this work, developed key skills, (including being appropriately informed on the condition of that student so as to ensure that learning approaches chosen are suitable yet effective), that I feel are crucial to fostering confidence and success and effective help for students with special needs.

Everything is not as easy for everyone and sometimes some of us struggle more with things than others, but is maybe better at something else. However, if you have a positive attitude and willingness there is always room for improvement.
