I absolutely love working with learners and helping to simplify complex concepts in order make them understandable and relevant. I’m skilled at using a variety of different teaching techniques and methods in order to ensure comprehension and retention of new or challenging subject matter. I also have experience (and relevant training) in assisting children with learning difficulties. I look forward to working with you!

I'm a 22 year old in my final year of law school at UCT, after recieving a full scholarship for University in High School. I also completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I love cooking, netflix, and my 3 cats.

I am a researcher at UCT, with fifteen years of teaching experience in languages, ancient history, and classical mythology. My students have ranged from primary school children, to postgraduates, to adults simply wanting to learn more about a subject they are interested in. With a D. Phil in Classical Philology from Oxford, I can teach Latin and Ancient Greek, ancient literature (think Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, the philosophy of Plato, the histories of Thucydides and Tacitus, the love poetry of Ovid, and more), the history of English, historical linguistics (how languages have changed over time), general linguistics (phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics, morphology), and sociolinguistics (how language use is determined by the people who speak it). I can also teach ancient history, mostly focusing on the Greeks and Romans (for example, the rise of democracy, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar), but am also researching ancient North Africa, and have a special interest in the Aegean Bronze Age (the Hittite empire, the historical Greece behind the myths). Sessions can easily be tailored to students' interests: teaching should inspire enthusiasm, and be entertaining as well as educational.

Hi! I am Ana, a native Portuguese speaker originally from Portugal & Mozambique, but I've lived in South Africa for the past 8 years. Teaching is my passion! I love to share my knowledge with my learners and my classes go beyond just learning another language. I believe that learning needs to be fun, interactive, and focused on my learner's goals. Moreover, I love traveling, exploring new cultures, and meeting people, so I bring that into my classes as well - recommending places to visit, develop scenarios in which you may have to order a meal at a local restaurant / a drink at a bar / make a travel reservation, etc. If you're looking for a fun way to learn a new language, I am the person you're looking for to help you with it!

I also have a masters degree in Drama Therapy.
