My name is Gabriella Tottle. I recently graduated cum laude from Stellenbosch University with a Bachelor of Education degree. I specialised in the intermediate and senior phase, while majoring in the subjects of Social Science and Natural Science. However, even though these are my specialisation subjects, I am still able to teach the prescribed subjects as required for Gr 4-9 and have had experience teaching all school subjects during my practicals while studying and through my four (almost five) years of tutoring. I am very strong academically, having been in the top 3 Intermediate and Senior Phase students in all my years of studying at Stellenbosch University. I have also received the Golden Key award for my academic achievements during my studies. I am a very hard working, punctual, organised, responsible and a respectable young lady, who is always prepared to go the extra-mile. I am a very patient person who will try many approaches to allow a learner to understand their work. I am an individual who has a love for knowledge and enjoys inspiring others to develop their own love for learning. I do not only believe that learners must focus on knowledge from a textbook but be exposed to knowledge elsewhere as well. Whether it be interesting facts, general knowledge or knowledge based on interests. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn and succeed and believe that learning should be fun. Despite my experience of teaching gained through my observations and school practicum, I have been involved in tutoring learners, throughout my years of studying. Through my practicals and tutoring experience, I have worked with learners who have ADHD, verbal dyspraxia, impaired hearing, poor levels of concentration and overall learners who struggle to understand content in a school setting. I have tutored learners from varying grades, such as: Gr. 1, Gr. 2, Gr. 4, Gr. 5, Gr. 6, Gr. 7, Gr. 8 and Gr. 9. The majority of these learners I have worked and am still working with over periods of two too three years. My tutoring includes help with homework and assistance in projects or tasks. I have also been involved in helping learners to study and prepare for their examinations. This would include teaching them about ways to study, how to create a study timetable and how to break down one’s content so that it is not overwhelming. My work experience, thus far, has also given me the opportunity to discover methods of teaching that are exciting and work for learners with barriers to learning. Most importantly, I have learnt how to ensure that learners enjoy learning and develop a thirst for knowledge just as I have.

I am a first year Engineering Student at Stellenbosch University. I matriculated in 2019 with a 83% average and archived 89% for Mathematics and 87% for Physical Sciences. I am passionate about helping students who struggle with complicated topics in these two fields of education.

I am a mature lady who relates well to people of all ages, especially children with whom I love working and in whom I build a passion and love for learning. I am patient and deal with the children in a calm manner teaching them the importance of determination and that nothing is impossible. Together we can conquer each and every subject in a way which they understand and through this they learn a good work ethic and learn self-discipline, in which I am a great believer . I am quick to encourage and praise my students when it is necessary and this helps build their confidence and motivate them to cooperate with me. I am bilingual, reliable and organised and give each child I tutor my full attention helping them to achieve their goals and to ultimately cope on their own and become successful scholars and students.

I am currently studying Electronic Engineering at Stellenbosch University. I am currently in my third year of study. Science has always been my passion and I understand a great deal of it. At school it was one of my favourite subjects and I did very well at it, ending with an 86% average for physical science in matric. My hobbies include playing piano, building electronics projects and anything to do with computers. I have tutored several students be particular student was a matriculant in the year of 2019. I helped her achieve her goal and she did so with ease. I have also tutored a small group of grade 11 maths students for a few months to stand in for someone else.
