I've been working as a teacher in various capacities for a significant portion of my life now: first as a German tutor for high school students, and then as a teacher for ages twelve through seventeen at a small private school in Pretoria East, where I spent most of my lunch breaks hanging out with the chickens that, to my bafflement and delight, lived right outside my classroom. I went back to tutoring, after that - but this time at the University of Pretoria, where I worked with third-year German students. We tried our best to read Kafka and conjugate modal verbs without crying. I've spent 2020 at the University of Johannesburg, where I'm working on my Masters degree while tutoring undergrads in anthropology. Distance learning has been hard on all of us, but my students were kind enough to win me the award for best tutor in the humanities department despite the challenges we faced. I'm interested in languages, writing, history, and the social sciences, and I'm excited to keep exploring these subjects with students.

I am passionate about teaching and learning and enjoy helping people I work with the achieve the best they can. I have over 5 years of experience in teaching and private tutoring. I also have a masters degree in Drama Therapy. I believe that my experience in teaching and my experience in Drama Therapy allows me to teach in a way that is engaging and creative as well as patient and empathetic. Hello there I matriculated from Michaelhouse in 2011 and went on to pursue tertiary education at the University of Witwatersrand in 2012. Since then I have acquired a Bachelors in Health Science (BHSc) majoring in Molecular Medicine, a Postgraduate Diploma in Scientific Studies in Genetics & Biochemistry, and a Bachelor of Health Science with Honours (BHSc Hons) in Human Genetics. I am currently doing my masters (MScMed) in human genetics and looking to further myself in the field. I am a very energetic individual with a lot of heart and drive to help people. I have a passion for maths and science,as well as a keen interest in teaching. I have helped out numerous students during my undergraduate studies as part of small study groups. I have taught one individual commercially who had a 15% increase in their maths mark and 10% increase in their physical science mark.

I am a first-year student at Wits, currently studying a BSc in Biological Sciences. I believe that a strong education is the most powerful tool in today's society- simply due to the vast array of opportunities it opens up. Because of this, teaching is one of my passions, and I believe that an effective tutor is someone who can explain a concept to students by linking ideas that are already understood to ideas that are yet to be understood. Learning is a personal process and it is very closely linked to one's self-esteem, I would like to help students find their confidence in their work. The subjects i currently take are Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Psychology.
