Dumisani Ephraim Khumalo holds four (4) formal qualifications: a Bachelors Degree in Social Science with majors in isiZulu and Media and Cultural Studies obtained from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal(2009), an Honours in Arts with isiZulu and Teaching isiZulu as an Additional Language as majors obtained from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (2010), Post graduate certificate in Education obtained from the University of South Africa in 2015 as well as the Masters in African Languages and Linguistics from Wits University obtained in 2019. Ten years of language and cultural research and working in the Linguistics Department tutoring isiZulu to the non-Mother tongue speakers, has gained him an exposure and interest in both teaching the language and getting involved in the language planning within different structures in the university and also under the department of Justice and Constitutional development. He started teaching isiZulu as an Additional language in 2009 at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal equipping the Engineering and Health Science students with the basic communication skills and language conventions of isiZulu.
