I am a fun loving person, a creative, a brilliant teacher who is passionate about History and the Arts. There is hardly a dull moment in my teaching sessions, as I make it a point to have fun while learning.
I worked at various schools as a student teacher and that gave me a great experience in terms of teaching and being in front of the classroom. It is a crazy profession but I love it either way.
I left my permanent job working for a bank, I knew that I had to go follow my passion and teach. It was the best decision that I had ever made and I would do it all over again as I managed to grow myself as an individual and made me a great teacher. I can teach Social Sciences, however, I am more passionate about History. I can also teach Visual Arts, reading music, drama, basic maths, basic Afrikaans and English.
Believe it or not, I too have problems with vocabulary from time to time, however, I have created tools for myself in order to learn more on my vocab and remember it better. Therefore I would like to pass on those tools to someone else in my boat.
In 2012 I self-published a novel that I wrote and I am proud to say that I sold out and people are still asking for copies till this day. I have to say that my writing was not that great back then and I am glad that I have managed to improve since then. I also help a few college students with their academic essays and I just absolutely love writing and reading.
I believe that I have always had a natural talent for reading. My daughter enjoys my reading when I read to her because I change my voice and do actions as I read her bedtime stories. I really enjoy doing that because it gives me a chance to work on my drama skills, and I get to show her the value of reading as it is an important skill to have.
Since I was in Grade 7 I have always wanted to open my own restaurant, and since then I have always paid extra attention to Business Studies as I knew that it would become an important tool for when I start my own business. I always got a distinction in this subject as I started selling sweets, chocolates and cookies at school.
History has been frowned upon as a boring subject because, in the past, it's been taught as a subject that deals with memorizing dates and regurgitating that information back to the teacher. With my passion for teaching History, I have come to learn that History teaches one to critically think, analyse and conclude on issues that not only happened in the past but still influence the present and have an effect on the future.
