Experience
English teacher
During my two years working as a teacher in Daegu, South Korea, I created lesson material for classes of 40 to 50 students of mixed proficiency. In addition to my teaching responsibilities I conducted oral and written tests. As well as teaching the students, I held small adult classes for my co-teachers. The level ranged from elementary to upper immediate, and I offered one-on-one and small group lessons.

I taught English for General Purposes to kindergarten, elementary, and middle school students aged between 4 and 14 years old. Teaching young children has enriched my teaching profile and allowed me the opportunity to learn different teaching techniques that can be applied to a variety of contexts.

I majored in English and Anthropology. Anthropology has provided me with a solid foundation on which to build understandings of cultural differences which has proven invaluable.

I completed a coursework-based Honours in English programme. I completed various papers focusing on American, Modern, South African, and Victorian literature, as well as a Literature Theory paper.
Master of Arts in English - Rhodes University
I wrote a 50 000 word thesis entitled “Unfallen Women: Negotiations of Alternative Feminine Identity in Selected Writings by Olive Schreiner”. I focused on how Schreiner's peripheral identity as a colonial woman enabled her rewriting of the Victorian gender stereotypes of the fallen woman and the mother figure.
Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary Education - Unisa
I completed a coursework-based diploma composed of five modules: Curriculum development and assessment; Instructional techniques and multimedia; Leadership, management, and student support systems; Teaching, learning, and development; and Theoretical frameworks and research.
