I am currently an Academic Writing Fellow for first- and second- year Health Systems Science at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). I am also completing my Masters dissertation in the field of Bioethics and Health Law which will argue for prioritizing mental health in Primary Health Care services in order to improve South Africa’s socio-economic development. In 2016, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology, and, in 2017, a Bachelor of Health Science Honours degree in the field of Bioethics and Health Law both from Wits. Her Honours research report is titled “A bioethical analysis of Climate Change: An Intergenerational Problem”. As part of the experiential learning component of my Honours degree, I worked at the Wits Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and the Wits Health Consortium (WHC). In that same year, I was elected as the Treasurer of the Wits Students Bioethics Society (WSBS), which provides guidance for students experiencing ethical and legal dilemmas within the Wits community. Furthermore, I was part of the team that compiled the “Summary Report on the First Roundtable Meeting on Organ Donation” which was held at the Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics. In 2018, I was a Chief Invigilator at the Wits Examinations and Graduation Office and then started my journey as an Academic Writing Fellow for first year Wits Health Science students. In 2019, I completed my internship at Doctors Without Borders/MSF-SA in HIV advocacy. I love swimming, travelling, reading, writing, and eating and I am passionate about addressing access to healthcare, socio-economic empowerment and sustainable development on the African continent.
