I have been a mathematics tutor for the past 13 years. I am currently in my final year of studying Bsc Mathematics & Statistics at UNISA. I am committed to my students and help them as much I possibly can, to learn and achieve their goals. I am a hardworking tutor that come up with lessons incorporating participatory activities, technology, guided practice, problem-solving learning and real-world applications to help students make progress and build on their mathematical skills. I love tutoring mathematics and showing my students that mathematics is something they can do if they work hard and stay committed to their goals.

I’m Vanilla Umuhire, I’m originally from Rwanda (East Africa) however I’ve been living in Cape Town for the past 19 years. I’m a female aged 23. I’m currently completing my Bachelors Degree in Psychology and major in Sociology. I recently completed my 120 hour TEFL course so I’m a qualified online teacher.

I was born in Caledon, near Hermanus and grew up on a farm. In 2009 I moved to the city after Matriculating in 2008. I love teaching and helping students understand something they thought they won't be able to understand. I focus on finding the root of the problem. Each person has the ability to do maths. Mostly, learners do not like maths as they do not understand it. My aim is to find ways to help you understand Math better, no matter what method. I focus on the best teaching method that suit you, not how I like to teach.

Currently college teacher,grade 8-12, that would like to tutor after school hours and holidays. Languages like Afrikaans and English and Sports are my passion. If not teaching, I swim open water events and enjoy the nature. Making crafts and good cooking is another passion that I have.

I went from failing maths to getting a distinction for it in matric and studying it further in my degree. Finding a way of looking at mathematics and your approach is what I think is most important. Everyone and anyone can do it, sometimes it just takes the right person to explain it in the right words. I hope I can be that person.
