GCSE (general) tutors in Western Cape

I have completed IGCSE and IBDP at the International School of Hout Bay. I did well in both IGCSE and IBDP, getting a silver academic award. I am able to teach to your child IGCSE general subjects and come up with fun ways to do so.

Completed my Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) at UNISA in 2014. Completed my Honours in School Management through UNISA, as well as a Bachelors of Theology (B.Th) through SATS. Currently completing my Masters at UCT in Education Policy, Leadership & Change. I am concerned about socio-economic injustices and use my passion, i.e., being a patient teacher, to address these issues.

After finishing my A-levels at school I went to University and graduated in Management Science and Computing and then completed a PGCE in mathematics teaching. I am a mother of three adult children who have now all graduated university and now live in different parts of the world. After my youngest daughter left for university 4 years ago and following many years of teaching in the UK, I decided to broaden my horizons and gain experience in the 'real' world, away from teaching institutions. This resulted in spending 4 years as Office Manager at a charity working with vulnerable young people. This enabled me to a certain extent to draw on my teaching experience while also embarking on a huge learning curve myself, acquiring many new skills including all the finance management, bid writing, being PA to the CEO, achieving Quality Assurance Marks and much more. However, my heart was really still in teaching, so in the summer I left that job and spent time in Uganda working with teachers and head teachers in classrooms and providing teacher training. The eve of my return to the UK, six years ago, became the beginning of a total life change. Subsequently I left the UK to come and live in the Western Cape, which is a beautiful place to live, but so far has proved frustrating in finding teaching work. I have recently been granted my 'Own Business' Visa which enables me to work in the field of Education - so now I am hoping to find some such work here in SA where my knowledge, skills and experience can be of benefit to the schools and children here. I am a very sociable person with an interest in theatre, cinema, reading, hiking and most especially wine tasting, since moving to the Western Cape!

My name is Amanuel Betemekdes. I am a life-long learner and a final year student at university of Cape Town majoring in applied statistics, applied biology, and ecology & evolution. While working on academic and extracurricular projects, I developed proven communication, problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills, which I hope to leverage into this program.

Ever since I can remember I naturally ended up teaching individuals things that I understood well. Friends often asking me in high school to help them with subjects they were struggling with (Maths & Science). It was the same at University - I helped friends to understand Psychometric calculations in Industrial psychology as well as computers (confidence in using computers for the first time, as well as formulas in Microsoft Excel. When I first arrived in the Uk I took a datacapturing job however soon started helping everyone in computers as many of them were struggling with using the Microsoft office packages. It was of no surprise that I went on to do part time studies in the Microsoft office packages and completed the Master MOUSE qualification (Microsoft Office User specialist to advanced level). From there I progressed on to becoming a High school teacher in computers (in job training and qualified at Brunel University, London, Uk) I taught for 7 years in a high school in London. I relocated to South Africa and have been a stay-at home mom until the beginning of this year as my daughter is now attending pre-school. I had four years in which I imparted many skills to my daugher including creating a good foundation in Afrikaans and English. My daughter is four years old and she is fully bilingual. As my daughter is now attending school I really would like to get back into teaching and I am particularly interested in tutoring as I really enjoy one-on-one teaching.

I an Accountant by profession ,Chartered Institute of Management Accountants ( CIMA). Teaching/Tutoring is my passion. I love doing charity work and am the Past president of Inner Wheel club of Ndola, Zambia ( Rotary International). I do motivation talks especially to youths when called upon.
