English has always been one of my favourite subjects. I am an avid reader and I am fastidious about grammar, punctuation and the likes! In high school, I did both English first language (FAL) and Advanced Programme English. I achieved a distinction for both. I also have experience in teaching English. I am patient and thorough which I feel are both important skills when teaching English. I hope to instil my love of the language in all of my students!

Throughout my academic career, whether it be at School or University-level, I have excelled at subjects in which a strong command of writing is essential to meeting the requirements of a course or subject. Whether it be History, English Literary Theory, Post-Structuralist Semiotics or a Post-graduate Honour's Dissertation, they all invariably require one to be able to write! Many of you reading this will have doubtlessly been introduced to writing as some rigid, formal structure which may have the misfortunate effect of constraining the ability of your inner voice to construct an argument or develop an essay answer to an exam question. Fear not! For I, as your tutor, will show you how writing - far from being some hoary antique of institutions past - is in fact a miraculous tool with which we may articulate those deepest thoughts in our heads that we never seem able to attach words to, lest we embarrass ourselves. Do not take it for granted that you simply "struggle" with writing. Consider, alternatively, that your uneasy acquaintance with writing may be the result of a "one-size fits all" pedagogy which didn't have your talent in mind for the teaching. Whether it be from my subjects in High School, my degree at Varisty, or my line of work now, writing plays a vital role in the success of what I do. From descriptive writing to scientific writing, to argumentative essays and short 5 mark answer, I have refined my skills to ensure I cover all the bases of how to write a good story!
