Afrikaans tutors in Johannesburg

I excelled in this subject from primary school to matric. I love the language, and I have experience in teaching it (been tutoring Afrikaans since August 2018). In addition to this, I have minored in linguistics in my degree - this has taught me how one acquires language, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and has expanded my knowledge on language rules and structure.

Being from the Free State Afrikaans is a bit more popular than English. I have also been surrounded by many Afrikaans speaking friends and family members. I even took part in the Afrikaans Eisteddfod poetry and reading and I achieved my cultural colours.

Hi I am a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I am passionate about education as its influence is far-reaching even outside the bounds of a classroom or school context. I am a Chairperson of an organisation called M-HARP (Mental Health Awareness and Renewal Program) which deals with educating individuals about mental health (see www.mentalharp.co.za). I am also a writer and a blogger on www.odysseyunfolded.wordpress.com. I can tutor language subjects primarily English and Afrikaans. I can additionally tutor Maths especially at a senior phase of highschool.

I am currently a final year Bachelor of Pharmacy student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I love working with people, am extremely patient and a great communicator which I believe makes me an exceptional tutor. The subject areas that I am hugely passionate about and competent in are Life Sciences/Biology, Geography, English and Afrikaans (First Additional Language).

Afrikaans is my second spoken language. Learning a new language or improving your skills with a second or even third language can be challenging. I would not only like to assist you but inspire you while overcoming any difficulties. I believe patience, empathy and practice is key.
