I am a newly qualified BEd (Foundation Phase) teacher having just graduated Cum Laude from Stellenbosch University. I have gained teaching experience throughout my studies to becoming a teacher. I enjoy working with children and I acknowledge that all learners are different and that they require different needs. My passion lies with teaching and learning, and I seek to assist learners in reaching their full potential. I have the ability to adapt the curriculum and content to suit the learner’s needs.

As a student teacher, I took on the role of the assistant teacher and I assisted with all duties in and outside the classroom. I was able to plan and implement lesson plans for all academic areas in alignment with the CAPS curriculum and managed the classroom independently implementing positive discipline strategies.

I am able to offer tutoring services to primary school learners to assist with mathematical skills. I have taught maths at Foundation Phase level and have assisted struggling learners. I believe that success in this area relies on whether the basics of mathematical concepts are understood and therefore I focus on the ensuring the foundation is there and from there we build on those foundations.

I am an English home language speaker and I am proficient in different terminology suitable for young learners. I have taught new vocabulary to Foundation Phase learners, having focused on spelling, pronunciation and building context around the word.

I am able to offer tutoring services to primary school learners to assist with English language skills in particular, those following the CAPS curriculum. I am able to assist in all areas of English including listening, speaking, reading and phonics, and writing and even handwriting. My teaching skills are varied, fun and engaging for younger learners.
