Hi there! I'm Belinda and I have 5 years of experience teaching English - which was totally by accident! I initially set out to become a psychologist and to supplement my studies by combining my Bachelor of Psychology degree (from the University of Pretoria, South Africa) with a PGCE (through the University of South Africa), but when I found how much I love teaching, all thoughts of psychology whithered away. I am now in the process of acquiring my Masters in Education through the University of South Wales. I absolutely love sharing my love of language with students, be it visual literacy, poetry, language conventions, reading comprehension, and even novel and Shakespeare analysis. I want you to ace your exams, and get the highest possible score in English that you can. I know that with a little fun combined with a little hard work, we can achieve some truly outstanding grades!

I have been teaching TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) for about three years. First, in Hong Kong, to students aged between 3 and 12. Later, I taught at a school in China, where many students struggled with reading, writing, and speaking English. Two of TESOL certificate specialities are "tutoring one-on-one" and "teaching students in China". While of course, not all students seeking to learn English are Chinese, the core elements of teaching the language remain the same. With a bit of effort and enthusiasm, together, we can have you reading, writing, and speaking English like a native speaker in no time!

Paper 2 (and 3 in the government papers) are dedicated to writing. I have been teaching writing to students for over 5 years. While living in China, Academic Writing was a compulsory subject, in which students were taught to write college-level essays, complete with sources and in-text citation. I can teach you how to structure essays to flow logically, as well as what information is most pertinent for the topic. Together, we can get you writing like a pro in no time!

I have 5 years of experience teaching English language and literature. I have taught the IEB curriculum, as well as the DBE CAPS curriculum. I also lived in China for two years and taught literature in a very intensive way according to the American Common Core curriculum. My speciality is poetry and literature, but grammar and language conventions are a natural part of my native language and I am very comfortable and experienced teaching these concepts to students. With some fun, enthusiasm, and hard work, together, we can improve your English grade. All it takes is a desire to improve!
