Are you insecure about speaking Afrikaans or basic English in front of others? Or do you find reading, writing and listening in these languages challenging? I can definitely help you to excel while enjoying the learning process. My enthusiasm and energy for teaching are contagious. There will never be a boring minute in any of my classes. I have over 17 years of experience teaching local and international students on a tertiary level, with a focus on foreign language acquisition and academic literacy skills. While obtaining my Master’s degree, I joined Stellenbosch University in 1999 as an editor of a bilingual Afrikaans and Dutch dictionary. After the completion of this project I started my career as a Language Acquisition lecturer as well as an Academic Literacy lecturer at the Stellenbosch University Language Centre specializing in Afrikaans as a foreign and first language. Apart from teaching and developing content for the Afrikaans courses, I have published several Afrikaans second additional language textbooks. I believe teaching is a work of the heart and I would love to share my heart with you!

I have over 16 years of experience teaching local and international students on a tertiary level, with a focus on foreign language acquisition and academic literacy skills. While obtaining my Master’s degree, I joined Stellenbosch University in 1999 as an editor of a bilingual Afrikaans and Dutch dictionary. After the completion of this project I started my career as a Language Acquisition lecturer as well as an Academic Literacy lecturer at the Stellenbosch University Language Centre specializing in Afrikaans as foreign and first language. In 2016 I joined the Intensive English Programme at the same establishment as a part-time lecturer, and I was soon appointed as the assistant coordinator of English for international students and the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) programme. At the same time I was named as principal coordinator of the programme’s commercial portfolio, initiating and promoting short courses and workshops.
Achieving my Master's surely helped me becoming the lecturer and teacher I always wanted to be: I gained insight into other cultures, and adapted to new and changing surroundings: skills with potential value in a world which is increasingly international. Furthermore this degree contributed to the following skills playing an integral part in being a good teacher: Communication, Creativity, Critical and evaluative thinking, IT skills, Logical thinking and reasoning, Research skills and time management.
I am a teacher that possesses enthusiasm for teaching and conveys it in a positive manner with conviction and energy that creates a compelling bond with my students. My enthusiasm and energy are contagious!
